Unlimited long distance means no long distance charges apply, but airtime charges still apply.
$50 no zone plan still requires LD add-ons.

Hi everyone,
Just wanted your help and opinion.
I was thinking of getting a monthly plan on Fido temporarily until the iPhone 5 comes out.
I will be attending school in Oshawa, so I was concerned about zone restrictions and Canadian long distance.
I was thinking the following:
$45 Tex & Talk + Data (Doubles Minutes and Data)
$10 Canadian Long Distance add-on
$11 Value Pack
My question is the $10 Canadian Long distance add-on. It says unlimited calling/receiving to Canada. Does this mean that calling during the weekday it does not use 500 minutes? It is unlimited calling throughout the month? Or just doesn't add long distance charges, but uses the minutes?
Also, the $50 no zone restriction plan - this doesn't include Long Distance minutes? I would have to get an add-on for this?
Thanks for all your help.
250 minutes / unlimited E&W 6PM / unlimited incoming / R2R / CID, VM, 2500 SMS / 500 int'l SMS / 100 LD / 6GB data
$55 + $2.13 + tax = $64.56

If you don't need so much daytime minutes or data...
Fido is offering this (unadvertised) plan in response to "Koodo's $40 promotional plans" (which you'll need to mention, to receive; any CSR phone agent can add it):
$40→CW150'/unl E+W@5 & SMS°/VM/CD#/250MB ...It includes unl Cdn LD, and the CD displays the number only, not the name
If needed, you could always request to add the "additional 200 daytime minutes add-on" for another $10/mo
Also, the $30→6GB data plan is back, available through retentions; though not compatible with any of the voice plans which already include data
Thanks. The $40 includes unlimited Cdn LD? But doesn't that use the 150 minutes? But if he comes to Toronto from Oshawa no additional charges, just minutes? And can call anywhere in Canada but uses his mnutes?
I think 250mb might be too little, but I will ask.
The CD - shows number, but if you have them stored in your phone does the name come up? Only doesnt include showing name if you don't have the number, correct?
Sorry for all the questions. Thanks.
How the Unlimited LD works is that you are just not charged for LD which is usually an ADDITIONAL charge to using airtime. So with 150 minutes you get basically
150 anywhere in Canada anytime
Anywhere in Canada weekends and evenings after 5
After you burn the 150 daytime minutes you will have to pay airtime but no LD.
I'm not telling you anything that you can't just google for yourself
