Now that the verdict has come in and what evidence Samsung did not destroy has been made known, I feel defrauded by Samsung and Google. I own three phones on the list Apple is seeking to ban. Since Samsung was found to have withheld and destroyed evidence and continues to publicly deny stealing Apple's IP after over whelming evidence at trial, I don't trust Samsung and won't buy anything from them again.
Samsung could have apologized and admitted their mistake rather than continue to mislead the public. My question is this: In light of the verdict do Samsung customers have a right to return their phones to Samsung for a refund? I think their needs to be a class action lawsuit against Samsung on behalf of the customers Samsung cheated with stolen Apple tech.
I don't care for Google's behind the scenes assistance either so I think it might be time to try Apple.
apple doesn't have any valid IP. they just played the patent game well in that specific instance. here in the UK where courts are far more realistic, practical, pragmatic, and nowhere near as dumb as those in america every single one of apple's IP claims has been thrown out.
patent law is screaming in agony for reform over the pond

Your opinion of the UK courts is admirable.

That isn't why at all. There is hardly and design or manufacturing the computer space done in the UK. That is why we haven't seen the fight there. The german cases are pretty much the standard for the majority of the EPO. The UK just isn't as good of a target market for computer based IP cases.
I can see how IP infringement by a competitor can cause irreparable harm to Apple by reducing their sales and diluting their products in the market, but how does it defraud you as a consumer of Samsung phones? That's a serious question. Did you not know what you were buying?
if it wasn't then why did they try here on several occasions?
Perhaps you should ask that of Samsung. They were after all the ones that brought the motion to the UK courts, IIRC. Maybe they felt they would have a better chance of success in a jurisdiction that had such limited experience in technology IP cases. Maybe next they will take it to Greece or Burma to see if they can get another favourable ruling from a technology powerhouse.
To my knowledge, they only sued over designs in the UK.
no - your memory is short. even in the last 4 months apple lost both their court cases against samsung and htc. samsung was for hardware and htc was for software
both were famous world wide because when apple lost the one against samsung the judge ordered apple to put a notice on the apple website for at least 6 months stating clearly that samsung does not infringe on apple's design patents. the HTC was for apple's software 'patents' where apple lost pathetically and the judge threw everything out in a short time for their 'patents' being either invalid or prior art
A judge in the United Kingdom dealt an unusual punishment to Apple for losing a court case against Samsung last week. Apple sued Samsung in the U.K., claiming that the South Korean manufacturer's Galaxy Tab tablets copied the iPad. This, the judge said, was not true. Yesterday, the judge ruled that Apple must issue notifications on its U.K. website as well as in newspapers and magazines saying that Samsung did not copy the iPad. While the punishment may seem extreme, it may be just what the mobile device industry needs.
HTC is claiming victory in a patent dispute with Apple after a ruling by the High Court in London.
The judge ruled that HTC had not infringed four technologies that Apple had claimed as its own.
The four patents at stake were:
Unlocking a device by performing a gesture on an image.
The use of a multilingual keyboard offering different alphabets on portable devices, including mobile phones.
A system to determine which elements of a screen were activated by single-finger touches; which were activated multi-finger touches and which ignored touches altogether.
Letting a user drag an image beyond its limits and then showing it bounce back into place to illustrate that they had reached its furthest edge.
HTC phone with Arc mechanism Apple had claimed HTC's Arc unlock mechanism infringed its technology
The judge ruled that the first three patents were invalid in this case, while the fourth did not apply to HTC's devices.
That link agrees with what I said, "[t]he U.K. case hinged on design similarities between the iPad and the Galaxy Tab series, specifically the Galaxy Tab 10.1's back and rounded corners."

The HTC case is another example of an Android vendor choosing to litigate the case in the UK. Looks like you guys are the Eastern District of Texas courts for Europe

And to refresh your memory, the judge did not throw "everything out in a short time for their 'patents' being either invalid or prior art". He tossed 3 of 4 as being invalid, one of those for prior art in the UK. The 4th he said was valid but ruled didn't apply to HTC.
Hyperbole is great and everything, but sometimes honesty works too.
dont feel so bad, I own a captivate which was on their list also. All i know now is that my phone is just as good as the iphone, even apple thinks so or they wouldnt sue!

Knockoff makers get sued all the time. And it's not because anyone thinks they are as good as the original.
Are people ... so stupid these days, that seeing a companies logo on the phone doesn't clue them into the brand of the phone?
I asked a group of kids (they were 4-8 yrs old) which phone was which, by three simple images. (I mixed them up, and added images for the kids, of volume rockers, actual power buttons, etc. In all, of the 15 pictures I showed them, they guessed them all right!)
ALL of these kids were able to correctly guess which was which. So can you adults guess?

You should enjoy your phones. The Apple police will not be searching your house to get the offending phones. I owned Android phones until Apple brought the iPhone to my carrier.
