Got a call from Public

Not too long ago I switch from Public to Wind.
I got a call from Public Mobile asking about a phone that I had with them.
They asked me about why I switched and things like that; but later they asked me about selling my public mobile phone to a friend with the same plan I had before, and put 5 days of free service on the phone.

Marketing sceme, or just being nice?

That's a great idea from Public. That phone is useless to you, and it may help them get another client. At the very least the new client can try out the service for 5 days before paying Public anything.
