Probably a preferred roaming provider list on the SIM.

Just got a text about the Euro roaming option. It reads, "Euro trip? Want the best roaming rates around with the Preferred Europe add-on? Switch your SIM card at a Warranty Centre - Details @ http://go.wind.ca/EuroRoam"
Out of curiosity, what are the technical differences between the old and new sim cards? Do you lose any functionality with the new card? Does it just open up some additional frequencies for roaming? Which ones?
Seems they will do the switch for free - even if you don't turn on the roaming feature. But just curious what it means from a technical point? Good idea to switch?
Probably a preferred roaming provider list on the SIM.

Did everyone get this text?
My SIM is just 2 weeks old, and I got the text.
I thought it had to be the 'white' SIM to be all good (which mine is)...
Or did I miss a memo?
If I did, how do you tell?

The new sim cards are for the euro roaming rates, not a sim upgrade.
Edit: The new sim card may have the euro roaming providers added to it. I don't think it's nessecary unless you will be using the euro rates.

I recently added the Euro Roaming plan for my trip to the Olympics. I had a black sim card before and then swapped to a white one with a small wind logo at the top. The other side is orange...
I'm pretty sure you can't get an old version. When I'm guessing is the new sim card is the same as your old one but it updated with new roaming providers.
