Does anyone use the Huawei Ascend P1? and how do you like it? I just picked one up for $49 on WindTab and think it"s pretty good but the battery life really sucks though...

Well the phone is basically as advertised... I read most of any reviews I could find, so no surprises there. I love the fact that its almost stock ICS so there's not a lot of bloatware... its great in that aspect... and I did try the sg3 in the store and although it too is a great phone I wasn't overly impressed with the Samsung UI... and the added features (bloatware) personal preference I suppose... back to the battery... I've only had the phone for less than 1 week... moderate use I get 10 to 12 hours... heavy use can seem to drain it in about 4 or 5 hours...depending... doesn't seem to last long enough... anyone else experience the same thing... gotta say though, this is a great phone, speedy as hell too...

All android 4"+ screen with great cameras, music players, etc. have a low battery life my friend.
this is the biggest topic on almost all new Android phones in the last two years.
My friend's son has this phone and i played around with it, it is pretty fast and responsive.
Also Howard and many others as you stated gave it a pretty good review.

10 to 12 hours is par for the course
Thanks.. I guess I was at least expecting to go 1 maybe 1 1/2 days between charges... and since this phone doesn't have a removable battery I'll have to keep the chargers with me more...

Considering that I seem to need to plug this phone in every 8 to 10 hours to recharge it (more if I actually use the phone) then IMHO I would think overall the battery sucks. Actually maybe you're right, the battery doesn't necessarily suck but it's not a good choice for this phone. And since it's not removable I can't even carry a spare or two with me. Now that really sucks.
Thanks... I'm not arguring the point about the useage (sorry if I gave that impression), I'm just a little suprised that manufacturers still create these phones with such little staying power. My last Android device was the XT720 (piece of junk IMO) and I thought that would have been kind of fixed in the last year or two. Guess not... I can understand when I'm heavily using the phone and the battery being used up quickly (resourses need power etc...), but for an idle phone (with absolutely no use - like when I'm sleeping...) I fully charge the phone before going to bed and then I need to recharge the phone again before heading out for the day. That's the part that seemed a little off. - That was actually the reason for my first post or question was to see if other people were experiencing the same issure with this phone and maybe I just received a defective unit. By the sounds of it though, I'm hearing that the unit I recieved is typical and normal. Thanks for the insight everyone...
I just got my wife on wind (from Telus) and she decided to get the P1. So far she likes it, i got to play with it a bit and seems really fast to me, can't say much about battery life other than in maybe 2 hours playing with it sucked half the battery.
I dont know much about android phones, but one thing i noticed and doesn't seem right-- the bars are all over the place. We have 3 phones on Wind and had them side by side, both mine and my kid were full bars while the wife's P1 was going from 1-4 bars bars, with very little movement the bars will be all over the map. My kid's Nexus S has a db meter but i can't seem to find it on the P1, wanted to confirm if was indeed signal issue or just some firmware bug. I did do the update available for it but didn't seem to do anything as far this. Anyone with P1 noticing this?
One other odd one, it keeps switching from 3G to H, but seems to be normal function of phone-Ice cream O/S, thought was weird.
Overall i kinda like it, love the screen and how fast phone feels and she seems to be happy with it, Wind coverage on the other hand............. :-)
Well I picked up this phone after grabbing the Lumia 710. I have both at the moment and for voice clarity this kills the Lumia but also lags behind in its ability to hold onto the signal. It's better than the Galaxy Nexus in this regard though so imo it's probably the phone with the best reception running Android from Wind.
I found a neat little trick to maximize my reception while at home and that is to purchase a separate bluetooth headset and use that for voice calls while leaving the phone in the best signal area inside. I purchased a Jawbone headset and it pairs nicely with the P1 so now I always have 1-2 bars while at home.
