I would definitely call. You may find that you cannot port unless the number is in your name since ST TOS specifically calls for personal use only. I would not trust the online system.

I am in the process of activating my phone right now as I type this.
I am trying to complete the process online but I have a problem.
My account that my phone is currently on is registered in my business name. This is a three word business name.
My problem is that the Straight Talk registration form does not have a space for business name so I don't know how to enter the name. They state that the registration info has to be identical to your billing statement.
So how do I do this so that my porting does not get screwed up...I can't afford to lose my number.
Should I just call and complete process on the phone? or should I just proceed and enter the business name in some form (two words as first name, one word as last name) and hope it get ported correctly?
I was hoping to find someone who came across this issue already and successfully ported.
I would definitely call. You may find that you cannot port unless the number is in your name since ST TOS specifically calls for personal use only. I would not trust the online system.
Why not get the name changed on your account with the old carrier before you try to transfer to Straight Talk? Since the telphone will not be changed and directory assistance will not show your Straight Talk number or name, there should be little effect upon your business communications.

OK...I made the transfer over the phone.
Everything seemed to go fine.
Kind of glad I called because MMS Proxy the operator had me enter is different than the one provided with my sim card...he said that the MMS Proxy on the literature I received would not work??
Not sure what that is all about? Anyone encounter this change?
In recent weeks, the ST support people have been recommending a different DNS name address for the MMS proxy: mms2.tracfone.com
But someone else on here says it actually translates to the exact same numerical IP address given in the documentation (below). So, we haven't figured out why they are giving out the "new" address -- unless at some point in the near future they plan to point that new name address to a different IP address?
See more here:

Your creed may be interesting, but your deeds are much more convincing.
I can see how using the numerical IP address in the APN settings can help; no DNS resolution required. But using a different terciary domain name, that resolves to the same IP address would only help if something was messed up with the DNS record of the original one.
You may not be imagining things. Doing some more research. Look below.

NEW INFORMATION:
Verifying a post from Silent Judge...
Using a traceroute tool found here: http://network-tools.com/
mms2.tracfone.com= 66.209.11.32
proxy.mvno.tracfone.com= 66.209.11.32
Yet, the ST documentation says to use 66.209.11.33 (which DNS address mms3.tracfone.com uses)
So, we do have two separate MMS IP addresses.
66.209.11.32 and 66.209.11.33
ST documentation says to use "33" but ST reps are telling people to use what goes to "32".

The true domain ID for 66.209.11.32 is: vdispwap2.mycingular.net
The true domain ID for 66.209.11.33 is: rds-proxy.mycingular.net
Can't find out much about the servers, but perhaps one can speculate from the tertiary name the original is a WAP legacy server?
Since, mms2.tracfone.com and proxy.mvno.tracfone.com are really DNS aliases that forward to the mycingular domains; it's better to enter the IP addresses into the APN settings.
Just did a speed test on both ID's.
Terrible results for both........d/loads..........390 Kbps for .32 and 400 Kbps for .33
I get over 6 Mbps d/loads over the air at work. I think the AT&T network just sux badly ??????????????
With VZW........BAD network where i live and work!
Changed to ATT..........
Since the Original Poster has resolved his issues, this thread should be closed.
With a company like America Movil, fleshing out solutions for problems like this is a good idea, to help forestall problems that could arise in the future. I say let it ride.
