Selling old phone, still has number on it: question

I'm wanting to sell my old Android phone. It still has my number under "About phone/Phone number".

Is this something to worry about? I'd prefer not to send my phone with my number still on it, but is there a way around it?

    Thanks!

Pretty sure that's fine, my droid 2 global still showed my number even when I was on a 4g LTE phone with an active sim card. Factory Data Resets don't seem to remove that info from it. It shouldn't be able to be used on your account though since it is no longer active.

I've "removed" that sticky ol' number two ways in the past, either by activating a new/different phone on that number (which automatically releases the old phone from your account), or to call CS and have them de-activate it for you. Then, power cycle the old phone. I am about to sell an iPhone 4 that was activated on one of my lines, now my number doesn't show up (I activated a different smartphone on the line, then wiped the iPhone), just like I'd done with a GNex I sold a few months ago. YMMV, good luck.

On a Verizon LG non-smartphone this is how I removed the phone number.

Maybe some part of these steps might be applicable to your smartphone ?
