    Boost Mobile 4G speeds ??

can anyone tell me what type of speeds does boost mobile have on there 4 g phones ?? I currently have a atrix 2 on H2O Wireless and am tired of the problems associated with this company and I am strongly thinking about boost mobile or t-mobile 4g monthly. So I`m wondering what type of speeds can I get with the boost mobile network .

    thanks for any help !!

They aren't breakneck speeds or anything like that, but I have no problems watching netflix or youtube with no buffering with the 4g. I'm not sure if my speeds are any different as I don't usually have full 4g signal, but the speeds I usually get are about 2 mbps down and 1 mbps up on a speedtest. I use the hotspot option built into my phone right now to get online as I just moved and haven't had Internet installed here yet (which is funny cuz you would think I could get it right away as I work for the company), so the only way I can get online at the moment is through my phone. Now I have no problems with having to wait for pages to load for a long time or anything unless there is a ton of information on them like a lot of pictures or videos or things like that, but I'm pretty happy with the speeds that I get out of it. I'm even able to stream netflix through my TV if I set the phone in the right spot. However, if I'm streaming to my TV or my computer, the other one can't stream as well, it's pretty well doing everything it can to keep up with one device, but I almost never see it buffer and the couple of times is has, was for like 2 or 3 seconds.

Make sure you have Wi-Max coverage where you will need it.

Yep, Boost's 4G coverage is on a completely different network than their CDMA Voice/EVDO coverage. It's probably one of the main reasons Sprint gave up forcing it on their poor contract subscribers and decided to go LTE.

Where there is coverage, it works reasonably well, but you generally won't get speeds worth bragging over. Where there is no coverage (pretty much everywhere outside of major cities, unless you're lucky enough to be in one of their "protection zones"), you'll be blazing along at Sprint EVDO speeds - which vary (depending on where you live, time of day and luck) from minimally tolerable to "I want to throw my phone at a brick wall" slow.

    Edit:

Decided to do some speed tests, since I haven't in awhile. Sprint's network actually moves along at a decent clip once most people go to bed, lol. This is somewhat near Orlando, FL, but keep in mind - it's definitely "off peak".

Then buy it, you won't be sorry.

I'm using one now and don't live in a 4G area. It's a great phone.

It's not a Boost phone, its available on Virgin Mobile.

You'll still love the phone, its a great phone and just because you can't use 4g doesn't render the phone useless or anything, mine is mostly in EvDo as I don't always keep the 4g on to save battery power and it still is very useful.

Don't "short" yourself. Personally, I buy a 4G phone because I want 4G service. The difference between 3G and 4G is like night and day.

Sprint's WiMAX is very spotty at best. If you want decent 4G service, go with T-Mobile Prepaid. They have a 100 minutes - 5GB/4G plan for $30 per month that's very popular. You can buy a new Galaxy S 4G for around $200 or new Galaxy SII 4G for around $300 from T-Mobile. Then you're ready to go.

    (emphasis mine)

If it's not in your area now, it never will be in your area. Clear's WiMax network is being phased out in a few years as they transition to LTE. Boost's 4G phones are not LTE compatible, nor will there ever be a software update to make them LTE compatible.

If you really like the phone, buy it from somewhere with a liberal return policy and try it out for a few days to see if Sprint's EVDO network works well enough for you, in your area. Personally, I was ready to jump ship if Boost hadn't began offering WiMax - EVDO speeds have gone to crap (at least, during the day) ever since Sprint got the iPhone.

Step outside of your Magenta cheer leaders outfit for a minute.

T-Mobile has very good data speeds where HSPA+ is deployed. However, they also have large areas of EDGE and GPRS also. T-Mobile is pathetic here outside of the major metropolitan areas for both data speeds and more importantly coverage.

I'll keep my magenta cheerleader outfit on if you don't mind. I'm dang proud of it! You really don't want to see me out of it

Sure TMO has large areas of EDGE and GPRS... but at least they offer decent and reliable 4G coverage in the areas they promote it in. I can't say that for Sprint or Clearwire.

Also... TMO's current 4G system will be around in two years. Their current 4G phone offerings WILL work. We all know WiMAX is on its way out. Sprint has openly admitted that for at least a year or more. Why would any carrier promote $300 WiMAX phones that very well may be dead on 4G in two years? Makes absolutely no sense to me.

I know 99% of folks will not still be using those WiMAX phones in two years... but it's the issue of promoting a dying technology today and getting good money doing so. Come on...

If I want good 4G in rural areas, I'll pay Verizon $100 per month. I don't want to do that... you don't want to do that... and TMO fits the bill perfectly for me. They promise what they deliver.

I've had Sprint, VM, and Boost over the years and TMO beats them all in terms of value received for the money spent. Their 4G coverage is just awesome around here.

And from what I understand, T-Mo is in the process of upgrading all their old Edge towers to 3G.

    Ok deal.

T-Mobile works for you (and that's great) but I can assure you it doesn't for a lot of people.

4G Wi-Max will be around till y/e 2015 and It's my hope they dovetail into LTE from there.
