59.99 unlimited all plan, can I keep it?

Screwed up the title ,meant 69.99*

So I got the iphone 4 when it was released for verizon. A year later I got the 69.99 promotion and with my 15% discount my bill each month is $67. I am due for an upgrade on Oct 7. However upgrading to something new is going to change my bill all around I will have to move to shared plans which are horrible and my cost will rocket up to $90 per month. I did some calculation and it is cheaper for me to just by the new phone at $600 and swap phones keeping my plan the same. (After selling my iphone 4 for around 300 my cost is significantly less)

Question I have is, will I be able to do this? I know it can be done by switching to a blackberry or another iphone 4 or 4s, but seeing as the the new iphone 5 is going to be LTE will my online account accept the serial number of the phone when I go to "switch device". As long as I don't renew my contract and just keep the iphone 4 the plan stays the same.

    Thanks fellas!

You can't switch from a 3G phone to an LTE phone online. You must call in to CS or go to a VZW store to make the switch because an LTE phone uses a SIM card. But it's not a problem as I've switched between my 3G iPhone and my LTE Razr Maxx several times and kept my grandfathered plan without issue.

So far, buying a handset at full retail price does not affect anything on your account. Even if you go in to a Verizon store and buy and activate the phone with them.

I switched from a Droid X 3G phone to a Rezound 4G in June. Did it all online, never talked to CS. The sim card shipped with the new phone. Kept my unlimited plan.

Good to know. But I think that was only because you bought the phone as an upgrade from VZW and the SIM card was already provisioned. I bought my Razr Maxx off of eBay and was told numerous times by numerous people (in store & CS) that I could not swap online. It the OP buys the phone retail from VZW then maybe he can do the same thing you did.

A Verizon employee should be able to clarify this. Anyone?

Yeah you can swap online from 3G to EBay 4G phone and back again online.

    The numerous people are wrong.

You could only do the swap on your own if you have an unused sim card to use. You're supposed to be able to reuse sim cards now but I've yet to make it work in the store.

Also upgrading does not mean you go to shared data. I wish people would realize share everything is optional for existing customers. You would only lose your unlimited data and get 2gb for the same price. Nothing else changes.

Also if you don't have one the web site will prompt you to order one (free of charge).

My contract technically doesn't hit 2 years until Feb 21. My early upgrade for a new 2 year is Oct 7.

Wouldn't the new LTE iphone ship with a sim card? I mean I don't see how it wouldn't considering people who are ready for their upgrade pre order the phone via apple.com and then activate it using itunes once it's delivered by fedex.

vzwinagent - I called vzw and they said even though I was an existing customer I would lose my price even going from unlimited to 2gb with these "new plans"

Only reason why I ask, is because I don't want to have to order the phone then find I can't activate it on my account without changing my plan, then I'm stuck with a $600 phone which won't be able to be returned bc it would be opened, then having to change my plan and get screwed all together.
