NextG Mobile. Verizon mvno. Challenger to Page Plus or just another wannabe?

    www.nextgmobile.com

Running on Verizon network (not clear prepaid or postpaid.
Byod available with clean esn Verizon 3g devices and most devices from other cdma carriers flashed to their network including Cricket and Sprint devices.

Does not allow 4G Verizon or Iphone or prepaid Verizon.

    Available plans:

    $25 unlimited talk/text 15 days
    $40 unlimited talk/text 30 days
$50 unlimited talk/text/100mb data/Major Mexican cities long distance.
    $60 unlimited talk/text/100mb data/All Mexican landlines.
    $60 unlimited talk/text/2gb data

    10 cents a minute/text/meg paygo.

    $60 4G data for 3gb
    $75 4G data for 5gb.
    USA based CS.

Page Plus alternate at last or just another Mvno Red (Mytay Wireless, ACRS Wireless, etc, ).

    CS number is (1-855-639-8455)

It'd be nice to get a real Verizon mvno to pop up rather then another short lived wannable. There are hordes of Att, Sprint and even increasingly Tmobile mvnos but Verizon ones are very few and far in between.

One good sign is parent company Next G communications has been around since 2000...

We've seen at least three or four Verizon mvnos go down in a year (Air Voice Cdma, Mingo Wireless , Lucky Wireless and one other). So it'd be nice to see other Verizon choices.

    We'll see.

No real advantage over Page Plus unless you need the calling to Mexico.
Internet at work and with a Nexus 4 on Straight Talk with AT&T.

Simple. Verizon prepaid does the same thing with LTE data for Tablets but no LTE for phones. Could be a reflection of that. The jury's still out on these guys...

there seems to be a lack of limited talk + text plans which would be my choice to save myself some money.

the 4G data plans do interest me although there needs to be a lower data tier such as 1gb for $20 or a more realistic price of $30.

It already is happening just need to look at the prepaid monthly plans for tablets and the first option is a $20 monthly fee for 1GB of data. I would already be using this plan but the tablet I got as a gift is the wifi-only version of the Galaxy tab 2 7.0 though maybe someday I will trade up to the Verizon LTE version of the same tablet or the 7.7 with the AMOLED screen.

If they would make their pay as you go value last 90 days instead of 30, it would be more competitive.

Also, in their web site it states that their coverage map should be purple for their coverage. Then shouldn't their accompanying map be purple for coverage area instead of red with green spots?

The red area of the NextG map is Verizon native prepaid coverage. On Verizon's prepaid map those areas are purple. Many of the white areas are at least partly covered by roaming (light blue on Verizon's map) but apparently there is no roaming on NextG. The green dots are 4G metro areas, 4G service would be available somewhere near them, but exact coverage is not shown just a dot.

Although the data rate for Paygo is pretty good, the lack of a 1 year PIN and the higher than PagePlus callling and texting rates will keep me and my relatives from switching. If they really want to make it on paygo, they need to offer a 1 year pin and get more competitive calling and texting rates.

For paygo, site now says 90 days instead of 30 days (whatever that means). Plus there is NO mention of 10 cents a mb anymore. It just says 10 cents talk or text.

    For monthly, the changes are:

$40 - unlimited talk & text now includes picture messaging
$50 - unlimited talk & text now includes picture messaging + 1gb web
$60 - unlimited talk & text now includes picture messaging + unlimited web

Paygo international, unlimited international, and 250mb web are now $10 add-ons.

Looks to me like they want to force people to buy the $10 addon data pack. 250 megs for ten bucks isn't half bad for a Verizon based product. Their sudden changes in plans has me leery though. Even a major mvno like H20 did this crap and it ended up in a mess. A smaller , newer one with no real track record could be more unstable. There's also another Verizon mvno called Good to Talk. They changed their 2gb plan to "unlimited". Methinks they want to hurt Page Plus, especially if PPC comes out with their rumored $69 utnt plus 6 gb plan. I think they are all capped at 2gb. Mvno Red X (which flopped) was a Verizon mvno wannabe with "unlimited" that was actually a mere gb. Unless they stay around, I don't think Page Plus is going to sweat...

Now that I think about, I actually talked to them a couple weeks ago. The csr told me the minimum for paygo is $10 which lasts 90 days. So that change to 90 days on the website matches what he said. Guy also said there is no rollover though. He had to look up the information which made me less confident that the answers are correct.
