The tutorial shows wifi. Look under the module 'Browser and Content Download'

Looks like a good upgrade from the 800G. I wonder if it would be hard to install Opera Mini on it.

This is actually a GSM phone, not CDMA. It is LG 840G, not LG 840C. My mistake. My 2 hour edit window has closed and I have already contacted the mods asking them to correct the mistake including the title. I'm sure they will get around to it but I guess they are busy right now.

How long do you think it will be before it is offered for sale by Tracfone? I'm ready to move up to a TMFL phone.

edit: found the answer in your other thread, now stickied - 2 to 4 months which would put it for sale in time for the Thanksgiving weekend sales rush. Makes sense.

Shouldnt be any different than other LG feature phones (which are easier than the Samsungs)

That's IF it is ever offered. More than once TF ha listed phones on the activation page that have never made it to TF. Some end up on ST or NET10, some just disappear.

From Annepani's previous thread, someone stated that the LG 840G is [nearly] identical to the LG T385.

Here's some video of a related phone:

If you go to the TF web site, the lg840g, although not for sale yet, has the tutorial now on line (it wasn't there on Monday). Just go to support, click on learn about your phone, then click on Lg 840g...and voilà!

The tutorial has been available through the straight talk site for some time now (post #1). But it is nice to see it on the tracfone page. It's a sign that it is that much closer to actually being released.

By the way, it is also on the Net10 tutorials page: net10.com > Support > Phone Tutorials

I looked at the tutorials, and it appears to be charging like the S390G.

the buy/download app tutorial charges 14.97 minutes for the app, then deducts 11.07 minutes for the data connection (when you exit). Given the app is 602KB, at 1.5 minutes/100KB that would be 9.03 minutes, and the other 2.04 minutes would be for 136KB of data for browsing to find the app.

The LG530G looks to be doing the same.

Yeah, that is pretty basic... but it is a Tracfone. Assuming it is Triple Minutes for Life and priced in the neighborhood of $70 or so, I'm in.

The MMS portion of the LG 840G tutorial seems to show it is charging under the old scheme. 2.5 minutes for what is about 300 - 500 KB picture. Under the new scheme it would be about 7 minutes. So I'm satisfied if that is true for MMS.

The MMS charges are more important to me than data charges. I don't use data much and there is always wifi. But I use MMS a lot and MMS doesn't work on wifi. So, so far, I am happy.

Where do you get the size of the picture?
Sending a picture, step 6 after inserting the image, below the battery bar it says 70/600KB I read that as being 70KB for the message.
And if you compare the minute bank at the beginning and end you see 812.72 - 809.37 = 3.35 minutes used.

Receive picture tutorial, step 4 says 31KB. It flashes 2.5 min, but when done you see 799.77-796.73 = 3.04 minutes used.

Receive video, step 4 says 36KB. It flashes 0.2550 minutes, but the airtime bank shows 796.73 - 793.97 = 2.76 minutes used.

Something seems off in the MMS tutorials.

(compare the same tutorials on the S390G where the balance matches what flashes on screen:1.0 & 1.0650= 2.065 with rounds to the 2.07 indicted by the airtime balances )

Motorola W376G. It's time for me to upgrade.

I was playing around with my son's LG800G and liked it, but I can wait a month or two for the LG840G.

I don't think I'll be getting this one. I already have an ex124 that has a better camera and from what I've seen checking the web is going to suck because of the way the keyboard input is. Don't know why they can't use the same keyboard as the txt message.
