How much data have you used with/without being throttled, warned, etc.

I'm starting this new thread because the other threads on this subject always contain a lot of useless information, and they usually degenerate into a nasty discussion about the merits of false advertising. Please use this thread ONLY to post information about usage that DID or DID NOT result in a throttle, warning, service cut-off, etc.

I AM ESPECIALLY INTERESTED IN REPORTS OF DATA USAGE THAT RESULTED IN NO ACTION! In other words, if you used a lot of data and NOTHING happened, tell me!

    Please include the following information:

    1. Type of Phone/SIM: E71/6790 AT&T SIM, AT&T BYOP, T-Mobile BYOP, Sprint Android, or Verizon Android.

Note: If you are not certain which of the above to choose, you probably should not post anything. Read the Straight Talk FAQ (which is stickied at the top of the ST Forum).

    2. Amount of Data used in MB or GB.
    3. Period over which data was used.
    4. How frequently you have used that amount of data over that period (i.e., just once, every day for 65 days, every month for 7 months, etc.)
    5. How did you measure your data usage (i.e. name of app). This is important because the native data measurements on some Android devices (i.e. the Motorola Defy) are NOT accurate.
    6. Indicate whether you WERE throttled, warned, terminated, etc. or NOT
    7. If you believe that you were throttled or had your data cut-off, indicate exactly what happened that makes you certain you were throttled or cut-off, as opposed to a mere glitch in their system, a problem with your equipment, or poor signal. Note that the Speedtest App does not work on Android 4.0/4.1 unless you remove the Proxy from the APN. This has nothing to do with ST, it is a Speedtest.net App issue!
    8. If you were throttled or had data suspended, were you able to get it restored, and how?

Please DO NOT include any complaints about ST's practices or about people who complain about ST's practices. Yes, ST may be engaged in false advertising. No, not everyone cares about it. Yes, some people care about it but still use ST because it is such a good deal. If you want to wine about those issues, please create a separate thread for that purpose.

Honestly I don't believe that's throttled. I'm throttled monthly on AT&T and that's double the throttled speed. It's a solid 256Kbps under throttled conditions, unless your on LTE, then it's .5mbps.

Agreed. He very likely had a signal strength issue or another type of network glitch.

Come on guys, keep them coming. Especially positives, i.e. I used xxMB/GB in xx period and had no trouble.

    1. At&t sim swap from E71
    2. Anywhere from 20MB to 400MB or 800MB-2.5GB
    3.Daily usage^^^^^^^^^^^^^^Monthly^^^^^^
    4.1 year 7months
    5. 3g watch dog and now the native counter on ICS
6.No warning but got throttled the one month I used 2.5GB other months I had ranged from 800Mb- to around 2 GB no throttling
7.Data speeds were stuck at exactly .15mb/sec for 5 days
8.Contacted rep through facebook and asked to have the throttle removed and yes they did
(I was NOT throttled the month that I had the 400MB day of usage)
If you got throttled you will NOT see any speed over .15 If you run any kind of data speed testing app you will see the speed spike up for just a split sec and will drop right down on .15 and barely move. I had several months of usage ranging 1.5-2.0 and no problem, so as it has been discussed before on there its wise to keep your monthly usage under 2.0 GB and you will be fine. As a side note I wasn't throttled until about 5-6 days into the following month of usage so don't think you got away with it if you don't get throttled the initial month that you went over 2.0 GB of use.

    iPhone 4S BYOP
    4.5GB/mo - 3.2gb in one week
    One month
    DataMonitor iPhone app
    No action

Usually I use around 2GB a month but with the hurricane I've had no other wifi for a week I'm relying completely on my phone to tether data to my devices.

Just thought I'd mention that speedtest.comcast.net is a viable alternative to using the Speed Test app. The only caveat is having Flash, which would exclude iPhones.
