Can anyone tell me if the LG840G features a qwerty type keyboard, or the dreaded tap-tap??

Alphanumeric characters are entered using the phone’s touch pad (Symbol mode, ABC mode, 123 mode and a predictive text input mode). When texting, each character has its own individual key. When entering a URL or creating a new address book contact it's tap-tap-tap (keys are assigned multiple characters).

The text message and browser URL entry screens have the option of using full qwerty (landscape orientation). Tap the "Create New Message" button, tap inside the mesage box to bring up keypad/keyboard; then tap the menu button (top right), then tap "Input Method" and select to change. Browser is similar, tap URL entry box, etc. See youtube video (search for lg 840g qwerty) that shows this.

However, its annoying but there are text entry boxes that don't give the option. For ex, the search box on google and other entries within web pages. I have had success by entering text in the notepad app (which will use the qwerty keyboard, but doesn't remember so you have to select "Input Method" each time) and then using Copy/Paste. This does take planning ahead since you have to close on app to start another.

Overall, for the price, this is a pretty nice phone.
