Switching from the $45 (Unlimited) to the $30 (All You Need) Plan

    Hello!

We are with T-Mobile at the moment, and are thinking of switching over to Stright Talk (AT&T). We have the Nokia Lumia 710's that are unlocked. I understand that to activate I need to get the $45 plan. But, after that can we switch over to the $30 plan?

    Thanks,

    Emil

I think SIM CARD are $15.00, there maybe a discount coupon"SIMSAVE". All BYOP/D requires the $45.00/30 day plan. The $30.00 ALL YOU NEED PLAN is only good for 1,000 minutes and 1,000 text and can be used only on the feature phone that ST sells.

You can only get the $30 All You Need plan on designated telephones sold by Straight Talk and by Wal-Mart on Straight Talk's behalf. All Bring Your own Phonea require the $45 plan.

You cannot use the $30 plan with the BYOD SIM card program. You can only use the $30 plan with the non-smart phone's on ST's website. Some examples of ST phones that can use the $30 plan are the LG 100C, Samsung T340G, Samsung T404G, etc.

i should have been more clear. sim card service $45.

this is maybe the 4th or 5th person to think the $30 plan is available for byop in the last month. still wondering where its coming from.

They offer both plans on the website. So if you're just browsing or heard about the program from a friend/salesman you might think you can choose the different plans offered on the sim-only option. Tmobile and ATT let you choose many different plans with their sim only options on prepaid so it's not too far fetched.

There is absolutely no indication on the page above that the $30 plan can only be used by the phones sold by ST. That's where the confusion is coming from. You would think in a chart comparing the plans, this would be a point of comparison since it is a significant difference between them.

When you go to the screen for purchasing telephones from Straight Talk, the description below each telephone tells what service plan is required. The Bring Your On Phone program says that the $45 plan is required.

If the $45 plan is required, you see this:
This phone will only work with the $45 Unlimited Plan or the $60 Unlimited + International Plan
If the $30 plan is allowed, you see this:
A Service Plan is required to complete purchase
    BYOP:
How can I tell if my phone will work?

SIM card will only work with an AT&T or T-mobile compatible or unlocked GSM phone. To activate your service, you will need a Straight Talk Unlimited 30-day Service Plan card or credit card. Some data services may not be available with all wireless devices. BlackBerry® and branded TracFone, SafeLink, NET10 or Straight Talk phones will not work with this program. In order for your phone’s data services to work, you must update your APN data settings, also called the Access Point Name. SIM card and Service Plan are not refundable.
