How does this phone compare to say, the lg 501c? They seem to have very similar features.

Not at all similar. The 380 has more features. You can learn the difference by comparing the tutorials for the 2 phones.

I notice by your signature that you have a blog for Tracfones. I guess that means you fancy yourself knowledgeable about Tracfones.

I hope you aren't here to collect information about Tracfones and then turn around and publish it on your blog as if it were your own.

Sweeper, when you get the A382, are going to look for a case for it?

From the tutorial, it looks like it charging the higher, 3G, data rates.

The receive picture (MMS) tutorial gets a 20kB picture and charges 0.33 units (plus the 1.0 for any MMS).
That works out to 1.65 units/100KB, but I figure there is some over head.

And the purchase graphics tutorial gets a 10334 byte file and charges 2.25 units (including all the browsing to find/purchase)

Is it a 3G phone? The feature set (minus wi-fi and email) and menus look a lot like the S390G.

Phone has arrived but will not be activated until tomorrow when I can get the number and airtime from my other CDMA phone and transfer it to this.

Do you remember the LG 500? How does it compare in size to the S380C? The keypad in particular. Thanks

My opinion is that the S380C is better than the 501C in almost every way. The 380C has a bigger display, better keyboard and a microSD card slot. From what I know, the 380C is a BREW phone and the 501C is Java. Not sure how that will compare right now. Need to get number and airtime transferred tomorrow morning.

No, this is not a 3G phone.

Sent a pic shortly after I had data access and was charged.5.775 minutes on top of the 1.0 minutes for initiation on a pic that was 393KB.

How much does it weigh? compared to the LG500g?

I have a Samsung r455c which seems to have the same functionality, but the sliding keyboard makes it to heavy/bulky. Would this be a slimmer & lighter alternative?

I don't trust the numbers they give out on the spec sheets.
