T9 and Fonts problem on Sanyo Taho

T9 and fonts work fine on phone(messages, native browser),but in a 3rd party app like Opera Mini, predictive text isn't an option in text Fullscreen Edit mode, and the fonts are miniscule.
If somebody has a Taho, let me know if their phone is same way,so I'll know if my phone is bad,or all Tahos have this problem.
In an app, right soft key gives MODE and CANCEL as only options. When MODE selected,123,ABC,SYMBOLS,SMILEYS and EMOTICONS are only options.
How do apps figure out what text options to offer? The Taho uses T9,so why not the app?
    Thanks for any input
BTW,this phone was bought new and activated on Boost.

The best answer I have so far is that my phone just doesnt support letting T9 be default text editor in an app but it probably would if the newer XT9 was the text editor that the phone used.
