    T-Mobile Phone blacklisting

does t-mobile blacklist imei's for accounts on a regular 2 year contract, non-EIP, where you just let them go and dont pay the bill? I am going to be switching to family mobile and dont want to end up with a blacklisted mytouch q because im giving that to my wife

What does it mean if your phone IMEI is blacklisted? What are the symptoms? How would you discover that?

It will constantly say no service or searching for signal.

Will never lock on the tower

I haven't seen any reports of non-EIP devices being blacklisted just because someone ETF'd. You should be fine.

I think ATT/TMo only blacklist if you report the phone stolen/lost or just don't pay the bills

You mean not pay the reoccurring monthly bill altogether? Or not pay the ETF after you cancel?

Dang dude... if you signed a contract and made a commitment, then pay your bill. It will come back to haunt you if you don't.

Understood... but call them to see if something can be worked out. Defaulting ain't pretty.

I think unpaid bills will eventually goto collections, thats when your credit gets trashed and the calls start and letters coming in.

If you signed a contract, then the provider can blacklist I would imagine for non payment. It should be expected. You used the service, and you need to pay for it. This happens on CDMA providers all the time. Once the bill is paid, it usually is released. I know that Verizon works this way. I would imagine that T-Mobile would operate in a similar manner.

This. Even if OP paid full price for it. OP signed a contract and it will probably get blacklisted.

That being said, OP made a thread about getting a new iPhone on contract with AT&T. Maybe he should pay his T-Mobile bill before getting an iPhone. Sounds like his priorities are complete whack IMO. Is an iPhone really that important that you will ignore T-Mo and ruin your credit to get a "god phone"?
