Okay folks, it's a new year, so time to to start fresh with a new Loyalty & Retention thread. The previous retention threads are 5 years old and have over 4000 posts combined, so it's about time for a clean start. We'll also be moving forward with a single retention thread instead of two separate threads like we've all been used to. All retention related posts must be contained in this thread. Please use this thread to share or ask for tips on how to negotiate with L&R, and to discuss specific plan details.

Happy new year everyone!
Thanks DC for starting a new thread. The other two were getting huge!
Has anyone had any luck having TELUS match the $56 Fido/Virgin/Koodo plans?
Clearnet/TELUS Customer since 2001:
MB Talk & Text - 2GB Share = Unlimited mins / Unlimited Canadian LD / Unlimited SMS / 2 GB = $55 + taxes

Wife signed up in late Sept and got the iphone 5 64gb for $129 with $250 port in credit. She was on the $50 data lite plan with 100mb of data. However, she got 3 months of unlimited data and that came to end on Dec 31 so she called.
She tried to get a match for the $56 plan. However, they noticed she barely uses the minutes and liked data. So they offered 6gb data for $10 more so her plan became $60/mo with 6gb and everything else stayed the same.
Not the greatest but good enough for her and she was only 3 months into her 3yr contract plus she still had the $25/mo credit from her port in.
Just got off the phone with loyalty and was able to get this:
300 minutes
Unlimited text
5pm evenings/weekends
CID
VM3
100 LD minutes
6GB data
$25 for voice plan and $30 for the data.
$55 + tax
I am seriously considering switching to Fido to get their $56 plan. I have tried many times with Telus retentions and they won't offer anything worth staying. I have been with them for almost 12 yrs now and it seems loyalty means nothing anymore
I have looked at the coverage map for Fido and it seems to cover the same, more or less compared to Telus. I know Fido uses the Rogers network but I had read somewhere that it does not have access to the entire network. Is this true?
For those who have switched to Fido how is the reception, call quality etc. compared to Telus?
Customer since AGT days, on month to month, called in, and got
1000mins Daytime Airtime
Unld LD - Canada
Unltd txt, pics, vid
VM 10, Call Fwd, Conference
Free Evening/Wkds @1800h

Month to Month, no handset subsidy, but still eligible for one should I want to do that later.
$75/mo
Said that the SK plan would not be available, as they (LNR reps) would be held accountable for a reprimand as its now a definite no-no.
Here I am, Platinum customer, with Big T since '91 and no calls, calendars, nada. I'd sure like to be feeling the love...
fido actualy roams on rogers network
i was at gordon baker road this weekend (heart of GtA) and noticed two fido android phones were roaming.
i dont think they get charged for it but that would affect how you set up your phone.
I would go with Koodo for the same plan. I have both Telus and Fido, and Telus is the far superior coverage and clarity in Scarborough and Marham.

With the current Fido plans, you have access to the entire Rogers network.
Fido is owned by Rogers
Koodo is owned by Telus
Virgin is owned by Bell...
If you are happy with the Telus coverage... Go with Koodo...
Telus and Bell share towers except in metro areas...
The service is the Same with any inter brand as In Rogers and Fido... There would be no difference in service same with the
others
I know a ton of people that have jumped ship from Telus and moved to Koodo... Can you blame them... The 56 plan is fairly decent for the big 3
