    Telus Band 5 HSPA Shutdown

I just checked IC's databse and it seems Telus is now running a 10mhz LTE carrier on Band 5. Does this mean there is no more HSPA on Band 5? This would really suck for those who don't have a VOLTE phone.

Are you sure? Why would IC care or keep track of which technology is being used? Which market is this in?

IC doesn't track the technology used but 10mhz bandwidth has to be LTE. This is in the Vancouver market.

    Telus Band 5 HSPA Shutdown

Are you sure the data is accurate? There’s a lot of bad info coming from IC. There are certain Rogers sites labelled as having 200MHz wide channels for some of their band 2 and band 5 channels...but those should be 200KHz for their GSM/2G network. The Bellus sites are also listed as having many 5MHz wide band 2 channels yet my iPhone 6 sees 20MHz wide band 2 on Telus in Southern Ontario. Similarly, the data shows 10MHz and 5MHz wide band 4 channels but phones see those as 15MHz combined. I wouldn’t trust the IC data completely.

Send me some site locations or eNB IDs and I'll take a look. It might just be IC combining both blocks for reporting purposes.

I've noticed my phone listing that as well, but my phone only estimates on cellmapper

I haven't seen this. I still 5Mhz LTE B5 and UMTS B5 as well near downtown Vancouver.
    Maybe you are seeing B26?

I noticed my local tower suddenly lost B30, which is unfortunate since it now pushes me to a lower signal B7 carrier.

@sheytoon, looks like most of the sites in BC show 10M for B5. If you need a specific one, how about the one on the north-east corner of Hwy10 and 152 St in Surrey.

They're all still 5 MHz for LTE.

Thanks sheytoon. So Bell and Telus will use the same radios for HSPA B5 and LTE B5 and split the power output between the two, right? Do they do the same thing with B2?

They have the ability to do that. It depends on the unique requirements of each site. Some are shared radios, some are dedicated, and this is not just Bell and Telus. It's the same with Rogers, Freedom, Videotron, Eastlink, etc.
