Bought a used Katana II, but Sprint won't activate it....

Bought this used phone for a birthday gift for my Mother....being pink and all.....the ad said Sprint....but when it arrived, found it says Quest, when you start it. She called to activate, but they said she couldn't.

I'm guessing it needs flashing? I'm sort of ignorant on this stuff, so don't mind me. Never done it before. So, will the local Sprint store do this for us? Or, do I need to do this on my own somehow?

Any advice? Was this phone originally Sprint(thought these phones were made for Sprint), or was it originally for Quest, whatever that is?

    Thanks.

If it was originally from Quest (as it sounds) it's useless.

Really? I've read after Googling, you can flash it over.

    Edit: Specifically...here:

Sprint usually will not activate a phone that is not in their data base.

Of you bought it and were told it will work on Sprint I'd just return it and buy another.

Look for the Katana DLX, it's a much better phone.
