Just found out when they charged my credit card, instead of the normal $50 for 30 days for UNLIMITED Blackberry Plan, I was hit up for $50 + $5.10 in sales tax!
Called SM Cust. Service and was told as of like 1/9/13, they tack on a sales tax for recurring credit card payments!!!
Looks like I'll have to use the PIN method to re-up each month to avoid this sales tax! Gonna have to buy these re-up cards with a PIN to up each month. What a pain!![]()
Where is this?

Best Buy is one of the places that sell the ReUp cards. There are others that you can also buy online.
I meant, where are you located?
I was just charged $40.24 here in CA.

Has anyone been charged the sales tax for automatic re-ups in NY?
I got tmobile about two weeks ago and I was planning on doing the automatic re-ups w them...guess not??? But is there anyother convenient method of re-upping other than getting a pin and re-upping it at the last day?
Can we buy couple of pins from online and store them in the simple mobile online account?
I also felt strange because I am from New Hampshire. Usually there is no sales tax when I purchase everything here, even a car. But Simple Mobile did charge me 1 dollar something for $25 recharge.
I purchased recharge from callingmart online a couple of times. There was no sales tax with 3% off to get pin, sometimes 5% off. It's inconvenient but I could save some money,
I just used "callingmart.com" and up for $50 for only $47.50. No Sales Tax! (Used coupon code: MLK125 at checkout).
This is awesome!
This is the way to go! Linking to a credit card for monthly recurring charges makes no sense and cost more. Plus now I can use my AMEX card to buy the re-ups. Simple Mobile did not accept AMEX.
Too much BS with Simple and taxes now. Just use the re-up cards and you'll save like $60 in a year.
