Sprint LTE Phones with a SIM Card

    Hi All,

This thread is for discussing the LTE Phones from Sprint with a SIM Card.

All of the Verizon LTE Phones Have SIM Cards.
But When I tried to look for a Sprint LTE Phone with SIM Card, I could not find one.

All of people who are using a Sprint LTE Phone and who has SIM Card in their Phone, Can You please let us know Your Model of Your Phone.

    Thanks, & Peace.
    A J.

    Hi Experts,

I found out from my research on the Internet that, currently on the Sprint LTE Phones
only iPhone5 has a SIM Card.
All the Other LTE Phones from Sprint have inbuilt SIM Cards.

Any idea about the Galaxy S3 or Note 2.
Some of the experts on www.howardforums.com are trying to use a SIM card on the GS3.
But not sure about their success.

    Any inputs are highly appreciated.

    Peace ,
    A J.

Sprint LTE Phones with a SIM Card

However they do sell phones with sim slots, these phones are meant for international use. The sim slot is to be used with GSM cell providers outside the United States.
While I believe you can buy these phones and use them in the US with a sim card from a GSM provider (ATT or TMobile), I think data speeds are only edge which is very slow, if you want the LTE data speeds you would have to use the normal Sprint or Verizon networks which don't use SIM cards.

    Sprint and Verizon don't though.
Their service is CDMA, no sim cards.
Also do a search, sprint and Verizon both have lte service and neither service uses sim cards.

The simple card isn't for voice service but it is for LTE service. I work at a verizon indirect agent and must install a sim card FOR ALL 4g phones.

Sprint has sim cards but they are internal and can't be removed unlike verizon.

LTE is technically a GSM technology which requires a sim slot.

According to this it is not GSM specific and works on both platforms. But OK.

All Sprint LTE phones have SIM cards, but they are embedded in the phone where they cannot be easily removed.

The only exception to this is the iPhone 5.

This is patently false. Verizon most certainly uses swappable, movable SIM cards that authenticate both the LTE portion and CDMA portion of the service.

Sprint uses hard wired SIM cards that even if moved don't seem to activate much of anything.

I can move my Verizon SIM around into any compatible LTE phone all day long and it works just like GSM. Please don't post unless you know what you're talking about.

Seems like you have no idea what so ever, You are just spreading False info and this type of False info comes up when you do a Google Search and then People use it to make decisions.

Just for your info Verizon is a CDMA Provider along with LTE which uses Sim Cards.

Fine, not looking to start a war, just posting what I find, if it is inaccurate information. Then you have corrected me.

Maybe my information is wrong, but if our Google searches turn up false information all the time, then you are saying that Google searches that result in information that is derived from this forum is also wrong?
Maybe everything I thought I knew about this is wrong, I accept that that might be. It does not mean I am doing it intentionally like you seem to imply or that Google searches result in false or inaccurate information as you also imply.
If my post is entirely wrong I will remove it.

This is what I thought. I was wondering what happens if I could get away with using the CDMA radio without the Verizon Wireless SIM card installed, remembering that authentication onto the CDMA network was done through the ESN and not through a SIM card.

Seems to (at least on vzw for LTE devices) all be handled through the SIM now. I can swap sims between phones like you could on att and t mobile and it works the same.

Also when dialing *228 on a vzw lte device for service programming/PRL update, I get the message "A Verizon Wireless SIM card has programmed your service and updated your roaming capabilities" and it wont make the *228 call.

Why would Sprint do that? Why buck the standard?
