    BlackBerry Plan and LTE Data

I can confirm that WorldIRC is completely correct. I have had a BB plan for 4 years that I have kept while upgrading to a 4S and then to a 5. It has always worked without changing my data plan and I have access to LTE on my 5.

    My New Rogers Plan
    - $35 Unlimited Local Calling Plan
    - $30 6GB Data
    - $10 Retention Value Pack - Free (2500 texts, CID, VM)
    - 100 mins LD - Free
    - $67 + tax

    Bite me Telus.

That's simply false. A "BB" data plan is just a regular data plan with access to all regular internet access points as well as BIS service. A non-BB data plan includes everything but that last part.

And I've already tested my Fido BB data plan in an LTE wireless hotspot and voila....it connected to LTE immediately. I purposely keep all my accounts on BB data plans so I can switch devices anytime without worry.

    Regards.

    FIDO $55 MB/SK unlimited w/5GB = $44.55 (BYOD 10% + add-a-line 10% discounts, $10/GB overage)
WIND $15 AITF unlimited data (10GB soft cap)

It will need a BB data plan. Only Dev Alpha devices work with any data plan, but retail devices will require a BB data plan.

I don't know why I didn't get the bis version of the $30/6GB. Is there a workaround or not.

One of the reasons I moved away from BlackBerry, other than the phones generally not meeting up to the competition was the fact that they required specific data plans. On the odd time I traveled, I could only access email when connected to wifi. With iOS and Android, you can simply pop in a sim card with regular data and access all apps. From what I've read it looks like the new BB10 devices will require a BB specific data plan...too bad.

Mobile syrup is reporting that any data plan will work. However bbm will only work with a BB data plan.

^ I also read that. I suppose that's better than having to rely on BB data for everything. Couldn't they do something similar to Facetime to eliminate the need for BB data altogether?
