Titanium backup does not require you to unlock the phone. When you unlock a cellphone what you are doing is removing the carrier restriction so you can use it on any provider that support's the phone. As of right now that is illegal to do (though depending on what goes on with this things might change).

If you rooted the phone then your all set to use Titanium Backup

*slight correction to the above (can't edit the previous reply)

The only people who can unlock the phone would be Verizon. So if you need/want it unlocked your going to have to contact them.

    Hi john510,

I do not know what unlock are You talking about. I will tell You my experience and how I'm using it.

I have Verizon Unlimited 4G LTE. Got it to bare minimum Plan. using it as home internet. Put the SIM in 4620L MiFi. My I535 is sitting idle and I need a unlimited international cell phone plan. So I waited till the Official update from Verizon. With 4.1.1 update, my Phone is global now.

In other words, the same SIM slot will work for the Verizon 4G LTE SIM as well as GSM SIM.

I practically used, 2 SIM Cards.
AT&T GoPhone and SIMPLE Mobile SIM. With both of them I got 2G EDGE Speeds. I'm using SIMPLE MOBILE SIM NOW. For 2 more weeks. thats it. go to straight talk AT&T.

So, in 2 weeks I'm going to get AT&T Straight Talk SIM and Put it in my I-535.

I also want to know what unlocking are You talking about.
Since, I used the same Verizon SGS3 I-535 on AT&T and T-Mobile Networks, I'm happy.

After I get the AT&T Straight Talk SIM, then I will get HSPA speeds as well. 21 Mbps, is what they claim. But don't know, how much will I get.

But it is better than EDGE and 3G though.

Let me know Your thoughts on this as well.

PERSONALLY, I HATE CARRIERS CONTROL OVER THE WAY WE USE OUR CELL PHONES. SO I ALSO WANT TO UNLOCK, IF POSSIBLE, BUT DON'T KNOW WHAT UNLOCKING ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT.

    Thanks,
    qzmpal.

Coming to the Titanium Backup Pro, I will tell You my experience and How I did it.

    Buy 2 things from playstore.

    1. Titanium backup Pro $6.58
    2. APN manager Pro $1.39

After You install both of them, Open Titanium Backup Pro and select the APN Manager Pro APP.
Drag from right to left 2 times.
Select the last option, change to system App.

APN manager Pro will be system APP and You will be able to edit the APNs.

for SIMPLE Mobile, they have a App in APP Store, SIMPLE MOBILE APN Settings fro mTracfone. I downloaded it and installed it. automatically updated my APN Settings.
Internet is working, but only at 2G speeds.

But it is better than nothing.

Also, I want to know, what are you going to do with unlocking and how You plan to use it?
I travel a lot and I want to know if it might be of some useful to me.

    thank,
    qzmpal.

And one more thing is I rooted my Phone.
Titanium Backup Pro does require Root access.

You definitely need root access to Your Phone.

I bought superSU Pro from the Market.
But if You follow the steps in those videos, you will have the spersu installed already. but I was talking about the pro version above.

But, You have lot of videos on how to root Your Phone.
It is a 5 Minute process.

You cannot do anything, unless Your phone is rooted.

    Thanks,
    qzmpal.
