    Samsung Galaxy S4 Release Thread

Samsung just announced the Galaxy S4 along with the fact that it will be coming to Verizon.

    Who's getting one?

I am strongly considering getting it. My phone has been acting buggy for quite some time and tired of putting up with it's periodic quirks.

Howard, you didn't get one to try out and rate yet ?? I am disappointed.
If I'm annoyed and you're annoyed, does that make us a paranoid ??

I'd like to; it's got enough improvements over my current S3. But I"m not all that far into my upgrade cycle. No doubt that there will be something even better when my upgrade eligibility rolls around (assuming VZ keeps the same upgrade subsidy policy).

Even so, Samsung has said that all the S4's improvements that aren't hardware-specific (like the IR blaster) will come to the S3: http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2416620,00.asp
Which is not to say that VZ will implement them quickly...

I'll be getting one for my daughter. She's hating the fact that her Rezound, with an extended battery, lasts her less than half a day.

I'm pretty sure it will support any and all the LTE bands in the US.

No question it will support VZ's AWS LTE bands.

^ It has to support those new bands, it is part of the new requirements they have to follow.^

But to me the S4 lookslike a DNA wit hthe screen size, and the shape , thickness, etc sort of.
I bet the call performance is spotty like it always is and the data stalling issues will be noticable.
The bells and whistles look good as expected, but the actual phone part of it will have its quirks until at least the first 1 or 2 SU's come out!

There is no firm release date or pricing from Samsung or any carriers.
The earliest it would be out is April.

Right now we have 4 lines that need new phones. I am actually more interested in how much they are going to knock off the price of the s3 when the 4 comes out. anyone have any info on moving the leftover s3's?

A couple of days ago, Wirefly.com had the S3 (with a 2 year plan) for $50. Not sure how much it was outright.

    Re: Samsung Galaxy S 4 Pre-Release Thread

For me, the biggest difference from my S3 is the S4's LTE-A support. I like the redoubled IM and the bigger 5" display and higher resolution — still wish it wasn't PenTile, though. I wonder if the Samsung OTA FM radio app will work on the US S4s? I had posted somewhere just last month about wanting IR for a TV remote …

All in all, still, I'm waiting for the GNote III. I want the 6" (+/-) display. Hope it doesn't slip back PenTile.

Or – if Motoogle matches the GN3 *hardware* feature for feature that'd be even better — but it seems unlikely.

EDIT — Just found this in the XT review:
"There is also the possibility that we’ll see two Galaxy S4 SKUs — a Snapdragon model with integrated LTE for the US market, and an Exynos-powered model for the rest of the world."

I had been expecting the opposite. Anyone with more SoC savvy than I wish to compare the two chipsets?

Im up for a upgrade discount. I've got a razor maxx right now and like it . I got it over the SIII because of the stronger rf reception Moto's have always done better than Sammys . I'm going to wait and see what the user reviews are like on the S IV. I need a smart phone that's excellent cell phone and text machine 1st excellent rf reception guarantees that . That why I've steered away from the iphones there basically media viewing/listening devices 1st basically ipods with telecommunications functions strap on as a last minute afterthought. I'd love the S IV's bigger screen, multimedia features, apps, etc.... but if the RF receiption is dodgy like on Verizon GIII I will wait and see what comes out later it the year.
