Exclamation OFFICIAL: NET10 1.5gb limit on at&t SIM discussion thread

    MODERATOR INTRODUCTION

We're getting a lot of different threads discussing the new Net 10 1.5 GB limit for AT&T SIMs. In order to make it easier for everyone to discuss this issue without repeating themselves, I'm merging all threads that discuss the 1.5 gb cap here and making this a sticky.

    Enjoy!

    ORIGINAL MESSAGE:
    -----------
So with the new data cap starting tomorrow, I thought I'd ask whether anyone is planning to test the new data cap to see whether it's a soft (throttle) or hard cap. It's still not clear.

Found this in the Straight Talk forum

*Monthly data usage on NET10 with the AT&T compatible SIM card includes 1.5 GB per month (30 days) of full speed data. Most customers will use approximately 1.5 GB or less.
It looks like a throttle after 1.5GB I can live with that.
And found this on the NET10 data site.
Effective March 1, 2013, your NET10 Wireless Bring Your Own Phone (BYOP™) AT&T-compatible SIM will be limited to 1.5GB of high speed data usage per 30 day period on the Unlimited plan.
That seems to imply a throttle as that's similar to the language T-Mobile uses when discussing a throttle.

Depending on what Straight Talk comes up with (or doesn't) I may just try it out.
So far, ST has made no mention of it one way or the other.

I'll be activating my sim tomorrow but don't really plan on exceeding my limit if not needed. If so I'll end up doing it by the end of the month to test it out but someone will most likely do it on purpose to see results.

Anyone planning to test the new data cap?

Why does everyone feel like they have to push, abusing he system and services only makes it worse for everyone.

I talked to a facebook NET10 rep who said data would be cut off. Then again, reps often don't know what's really going on and post conflicting info, so I guess time will tell.

You can if you are using a Net10 BYOD SIM card. Just buy an equivalent ST BYOD SIM card.

But it is a fresh start with a new SIM. No carryover of any current SIM programming screw ups. Bad set up of your phone is another matter.

Anyone planning to test the new data cap?

My service date runs out on the 11th so I'll be doing it on the 9th . To see what happens if I continue with data or not until service end date.
