How do I unlink my cell number from someone elses facebook account?

I just got a new account with US Cellular today. This includes a 'new' number.
However the person who had this number previously has it linked with their facebook account. Now whenever someone posts to their facebook I get a text message about the post. I have gotten over 30 of them today so far!

How do I unlink MY number from their facebook?

    Thanks

You will have to contact someone from the facebook staff if they have it as an option.

Might be quicker to go back to the store and have them get you a new number

Typically you can reply to those messages to comment on posts, etc. So you could just respond to all of the messages with profanity laced tirades until the person realizes their mistake and removes the number.

Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S3

I have not been able to get a hold of anyone at Facebook, so that is not working.
US Cellular says all they can do is block texts to my phone, ALL texts. So that will not work either.
I also can not reply to the Facebook posts, it says I do not have permission.

Try texting the word "Off" (without quotation marks) to your number.

If that doesn't work try texting it to 32665.

Thanks BigE! I got a reply that says, "Facebook texts are now off. Reply 'on' to turn back on."

Hopefully I am no longer bothered by Facebook.

Under the circumstances, US Cellular should change your new number for free, my dad had his number changed after he got his first cell and was getting phone calls from debt collectors looking for whoever had that number before

The only other option that I can think of at this point is to try and track down the owner of the Facebook account by Googling the comments or users that you see in the texts you're receiving, but that's probably more trouble than it's worth. It's probably time to call U.S. Cellular and ask for a new number.

Make sure you do so from a different phone. Unless things have changed, they'll have to walk you through reprogramming it to your new number. Of course, you can also stop into a store and have them do it for you.

Um, yeah. It still boggles my mind that people would call from the same phone.

When I activated my Electrify M, I didn't have to program anything, it all happened over the air but that was for switching phones, and non-smartphones might be different
