I came across this and bought one as a backup device for my refurb Samsung Galaxy Proclaim ... the Samsung R355C (Verizon coverage) brand new for $9.99 shipped. You can't beat the price for a basic texting phone with full qwerty, 1.3MP camera, mp3 player and WAP browser. Net10's cheapest phone is $15 with shipping (not counting the free LG 290c with purchase of a $30 card).
Samsung phones are always the best quality in my opinion, no matter how cheap they are priced. I had a Samsung A840 on Sprint for 3 years and even after getting dripping wet in a leaking motorcycle rain gear pocket, it still worked after it fully drying out (a few weeks). It got dropped countless times on hard floors (went flying a few times even) without a case on and it never phased it. Hard to say if the R355c would since it's not a flip phone.. but even so... I love Samsung devices.
They are also including 3 free "gel skins" with the phone too. This is best deal I have seen for Net10.

FYI: I have been noticing lately some really good deals for Tracfone service card refills on eBay, e.g., 1 year 400 minutes for $69. So if you are not faint of heart, you might do a search and check out these eBay deals.
Personally, I have never had a problem having the seller add to my account, it is a refill service and most of these sellers will not send a pin through e-mail because the fraud has been on the recipients end, using it and accusing the seller of having not sent it.
Right now 1 year 400 minutes is $62 from a seller who I have used multiple times for my Virgin Mobile account. They will also add the promo code, you must include it in the note to seller when sending paypal payment here and here
Simple, if you are not comfortable with it, then don't use it.
