Using hotspot on Samsung Galaxy Victory 4G Lte

Does anyone have a suggeestion for a 3rd party android app for use with the Samsung Galaxy Victory 4G Lte that will allow it to be used as a hotspot. The same phone on Sprint has this feature but Virgin does not. My previous phone, the HTC Evo 4G (Wimax) had hotspot with Virgin, but it only worked on WiMax. I get great 4G Lte coverage with Virgin,so I want to make the best use of it.

    Thanks

you might have to download the apk because sprint blocks it.

Pathetically slow Sprint's abysmal 3G network

Per Foxfi, their wifi hotspot doesn't work with Jellybean phones... of which the Victory is one. Disappointing (and yes, I did try it anyhow). There probably is a workaround involving rooting the phone, but I haven't looked into that yet.

It's probably going to require root, for ad-hoc hotspot, or the normal USB tethering.

I've rooted my Victory and installed the modded WiFi Tether with the listed instructions. It is the normal hotspot, not the ad-hoc mess that I had to deal with on my old Optimus Elite. When connected to 4G it is a great experience.

    Root on Samsung Victory

Is there anyway you can send me the process you went thru: setting up root and the modded wifi tether.

Also, the Victory doesn't seem to let me copy apps to the sd card. I've tried using 3rd party apps, but no.

    Thanks alot for your time,

    Brad

    Everything I needed I found here http://androidforums.com/virgin-mobi...l-things-root/

I rooted with this thread http://androidforums.com/virgin-mobi...g-newbies.html

    Tethered with this thread http://androidforums.com/virgin-mobi...y-victory.html

And installed apps on external SD card and other space saving tips with this thread http://androidforums.com/virgin-mobi...esomeness.html

Remember to read as much of the threads as possible as new tips and adjustments can be found later in the thread. Also... read every step carefully before trying, and when attempting to do this make sure to follow each instruction word for word, especially when rooting. And know the risks before trying. Luckily, this method of getting root access is one of the easier ones.

Thank you very much for your post & links for rooting the VM version of Galaxy Victory. I successfully rooted mine last evening (took more than one attempt). Could not have done this without the solid guidance from these instructions. I did use an updated version of "WiFi Tether For Root Users". That, too, works like a charm. Thanks again :-)
