Question How Much DATA is used when using SPEEDTEST mobile App? Anyone?

So you probably all know of Speedtest app to test speeds.
I personally don't know a better app for that (:
And I use an iPhone so perhaps this is the only one for iOS users.

My question: how much data is being used to run the test itself?

I am assuming the app is downloading a file (?) to test the speed. So I am curious about how much data each test takes out of my very limited data allowance.

    Thank you

Thank you. Do you know of any OTHER method of testing the cell network speeds?

There are some other mobile speed test sites but they all use about the same amount of data for the tests (18-20MB).

Not worth testing plans with 250 megs and less or paygo.

it depends on the speed you have. on edge connection only uses mb or two but on lte closer to 20mb since it maxes your connection out for ~15-20 secs

The android app on Verizon 3G appears to work in line with how haydeno explained it, since I certainly didn't use 20 MB on Page Plus.

From the speed tests that I have run it appears to me that the data used is very close to what the results were, both up and down. I blew through a boatload of data testing 4G LTE speeds in various locations around town and it seemed to match my tests. I used the speed test function on the Sensorly app and the Speedtest.net app. Sensorly app speed test for my crappy 3G was .98Mbps down and 1.34Mbps up and shows that 2.07 Mb of data was used to perform test. ????

    makes sense 20mbps uses ~ 20mb so 2mbps uses ~ 2mb

If you're on sprint at .3 mb does it use less or time out after a certain amount of time compared to a fast hspa or LTE connection?

The faster your connection the more data it uses. Using Root Metrics' speedtest, when I was getting a strong LTE signal and getting 25mb or faster downloads I was using about 35-40mb per speed test.
