    Femtocells?

Does anyone know if it's possible to get a femtocell on the Rogers/Fido network? I know some US providers have been offering these for a while but don't know if they ever made their way into Canada.

I live in the Toronto west end, less than 1 km from two separate Rogers towers (450m and 700m, actually), and yet about 70% of my phone calls get dropped, while countless others are missed entirely when calls don't connect. Incredibly frustrating. Seems like the bunker-like concrete walls of my condo are to blame.

I've tried a zBoost signal booster before, but that had virtually no effect on signal quality for me.

Has anyone had any luck getting a femtocell?

Seen these at Canadian tire and they have a good return exchange policy.
Never tried but only a suggestion

Thanks. I've actually seen those devices and even have a zBoost Soho booster, which doesn't seem to have any discernible effect on signal quality.

I'm more interested in a proper femtocell: a router-like device that plugs into a broadband connection via Ethernet and sets up an actual, short-range cell (range of about 10m).

From what I understand, there was some rumination about offering these within Rogers at some point that may have fallen by the wayside when they began offering UMA as an option. Sadly, UMA isn't supported on any of my devices, so it's kind of a non-starter for me.

Both Fido Blackberry 9360 & 9790 are UMA compatible...

No Canadian carrier offers femtocells as an option.

I just picked up http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/brows....jsp?locale=en after reading this post. And happy to report with my Nexus 4, it has taken my phone from 1-3 bars to a solid 5!

    Quite impressed.

I am using it indoors. The one from Canadian Tire is not LTE enable. The one I got was model 815226F - 3G only. While it did help signal bars, my speed test on 4G (not LTE) never went over 3 Mbps.

If you want LTE, you'd need http://www.wilsonamplifiers.com/slee...kit-812726f-h/
