    bad esn iphone 5 t-mobile

Hey guys just wondering if a bad esn t-mobile iphone 5 can be unlocked? A friend of mine delivers the newspaper in the mornings and found this iphone 5 in the street. looks new he wanted to use it on a prepaid company like simple mobile, solavei. I assume it has a bad esn because they probably reported it lost.

First of all, tmobile iphone 5's dont have ESN numbers they have IMEI numbers. Just go to the link in the thread that is stickied in this forum for IMEI verification and type it in. It will let you know if it can be used on tmobile or not.

1 - If it's T-Mobile branded it won't work on any of their MVNOs for sure. Carriers are sharing bad ESN/IMEI lists now. If it works at all on other carriers, it won't work for long.
2 - I'm sure Apple has some kind of lost/stolen phone reporting system. It probably won't work on iTunes either.
3 - Your friend is a douche for wanting to keep something that doesn't belong to them. Think about the person who lost it. They probably dropped it while out walking or something and are frantically looking for it. Take the phone into the store and they can contact the person to come get it.

Can't wait for iOS7 and the new iCloud verification system. Should have already had that feature. I've been on the other side of this and even with insurance it's no fun.

He just sounds like someone lying and trying to piss everyone off.
Well if you're serious, just return it. If you don't they'll block it and it'll become a brick. AT&T & T-Mobile now share the same blacklist IMEI database.

I am not lying like i said i could not believe it myself, its his decision if he wants to return it to the owner i don't know yet what he will do with it. Well its not from at&t and tmobile vcdlmp, looks like they bought it from the apple store because i called a rep and she said it was a 16gb and i ask her if it was unlocked she said yes for any carrier. Obviously i told her i was buying a phone and needed to verify the information the owner was giving me.

    This thread is finished.
It doesn't sound like anything good can come from this thread based on the comments so far. Honestly, I'm not interested in finding out.
