Actually, P3Droid gave me those commands yesterday. What happened was I used that POS PwnMyMoto to root in the first place.

Anybody know what happened to the predictive dialer on this phone? I miss pressing the alpha characters to find a contact with the dialpad.

Also, what happened to Email select all to clear your inbox? Now I have to select them one at a time to delete all.

I miss that as well... You can scroll down and it gives you the alpha characters... Not the same though....

I liked it so much, I went for the $1.59 for the Pro Version.

This is my understanding, correct me if wrong:

A poster here asked why his Nexus, whichever one, did not have T9 dialing. So apparently T9 was mfr created and not on stock android. Why it would be missing from X is an oversight IMO.

Email is another issue. On my Maxx HD you could "Select All" and delete the whole mailbox. Now we have to select one at at time and delete? What about the Trash folder; I have 1,500 items in there and no way to mass delete.

Motorola is now releasing updates to the camera app in Google Play Store.

    http://feedly.com/k/1hwX6ve

They are serious about camera feedback. It is good because now no one has to wait for carrier nonsense with updates.

+1. Sure beats the heck out of shoving them down our throats like vzw does.

Yikes. Know what you mean; I just looked at it. That must be a gmail update or jb, not the phone as my Bionic lost mass delete also.

Perhaps you could find the prior gmail app.

Since GB, really, but more and more with each new release that seems to give with one hand but take away with the other, I find Android is suffocating me.

HELP! Somebody please! get me out of here.

Sadly, there's nothing's all that much better – yet. And Android 4.4 Nestlé KidKasket surely isn't "it".

This Gus Hunt video from CES 2013 has been floating around for awhile
At about 20'+, the CTO of the US CIA explains the data acquisition philosophy for this time of "Big Data" –
"We try to collect everything and hang on to it forever."
He goes on to say why – in some detail.

If we see the evolution of Google's Android from that perspective it all starts to make a lot more sense.
Boot up your freshly minted Nexus 5 and what do you see? A phone dialer that’s plugged directly into Google’s search, the ever-present Chrome browser, and the one-stop-shop for communications that is the Hangouts app. Hangouts is now your default SMS app, to go along with being the replacement for Google Talk and the company’s go-to video chat application. If you want to avoid the Google ecosystem, you’re best off avoiding Android 4.4 altogether.
    http://mobile.theverge.com/2013/11/1...e-next-billion

NOTHING ever just goes away. But to be sure about that, we'll just make it more trouble than it's worth (for most folks) to delete emails — or photos.
With KitKat’s Photo Editor you can apply predefined looks, alter the geometry, saturation and applied filters. But perhaps best of all – Photo Editor is non-destructive. Which means no matter what you do to an image you can always revert back to the original one.
The same logic exactly explains the loss of external storage (mSD) and the push to the cloud. It also explains 'Voice Command' which is just an excuse to transcribe and upload every intelligible sound from the vicinity of your Motorola X8 (or Snapdragon 800) device 24/7 – "even when it's turned off" to again quote Gus Hunt.

Too much data, you say? Oh, then you didn't watch Gus. Go back and watch the video… (again?) Try this from about 27:00:
"It is nearly within our grasp to compute on all human generated information." [emphasis in original]
Still can't buy it? Check this out then.

If anyone thinks this explanation of the feature losses being discussed here merits further consideration, please say in your reply whether or not you have viewed the Gus Hunt video.

Did I post something illogical? Or factually incorrect? Or unrelated to the train of thought in the thread?

I seek to buttress my posts with credible references to the extent possible. But if you see patent errors in my thinking, please correct my mistakes so others won't be misinformed.

Is HoFo not about expressing sincere opinions frankly and striving to arrive at a fuller understanding of the issues under discussion. I'm not sure that your (to paraphrase), 'Don't go away mad, Just go away." best furthers that aim.

I feel awkward – I feel bad – that my opinions make you uncomfortable. But, unless you can show me how they are demonstrably invalid, I feel a responsibility to offer my understanding of the truth to the forum at large.
