Porting Problem from Straight Talk to AIO Wireless

As of 8/30/2013 AIO Wireless can port numbers from other carriers via their website (versus going into a physical store) which is great for those of us that don't live in Texas or Florida. I am providing my own unlocked iPhone, so I am just ordering a SIM from AIO. Keep getting an error on AIO's order website that says, "Unable to complete transfer. We can't validate this phone number with your PREVIOUS carrier. You may contact your CURRENT wireless company for help." Note - I think AIO means CURRENT carrier, not PREVIOUS...just a typo I guess?

Problem 1: According to Straight Talk my account number is the last 15 digits printed on my Straight Talk SIM card, but according to AIO the account number needs to be 20 digits.

Problem 2: If more than 15 digits are entered into the account number field on AIO's website it will display an error that says, "Only 15 digits can be entered in this field".

Problem 3: AIO even tried having me enter my phone's IMEI number as the Straight Talk account number, which according to Straight Talk is not my account number.

So far nothing has worked. Today is DAY 3 of live chat and phone calls to both AIO and Straight Talk. According to Straight Talk my number is ready/available to port over to AIO.

I've asked numerous times to be transferred to Tier 2 customer support, but can't get past Tier 1. The AIO customer service reps keep saying there is only one level of customer service and they all have the same training. Note - one of the customer service reps I spoke with today didn't even know AIO now has the capability to port via their website (effective 8/30/13)...she thought the customer still had to go into a physical store to do it! So obviously they don't all have the same training.

BTW...we have another unlocked iPhone (SIM card only) through AIO Wireless and we LOVE their cell service! Customer service has been great on our first phone which was just an assigned telephone number from them...not ported.

Got the same problem here (on NET10 actually, but that's the same system I think).
I've tried different account numbers (IMEI, phone number, ...) and different PINs (last 4 digits of the phone number, "0000", ...)
    But it never worked.
Let us know if you have any update!
    Thanks!!

No luck here either. I'm considering getting a $10 Gophone and porting my number to it, then to AIO. Aio reps have all told me that they can't port from straight talk for some reason. The straight talk reps are less than useless on their end (not really their fault but it doesn't mean that I have to like it). Does anyone know if we can port from a Gophone?

The customer service rep at aio just informed me that aio and Straight Talk will not port phone numbers to each other.

I had the same problems, but got it done finally. I had to go into a store to get it done. When they put the order in on their system at the store it will create a porting request reference number(unlike when we try to do it on the web). We waited 15 minutes and it stayed in "pending" status and still wouldn't go through. Finally I called Straight Talk and once I told them I was porting and had a porting reference number, they transferred me to a outbound porting specialist that looked it up and approved it. Then the AIO rep in the store refreshed the order and it showed port complete and we finished the activation and everything worked immediately on my phone. The only draw back was that they charged an extra $25 "activation fee" in the store that they wouldn't waive. I didn't fight it too hard and figured the 3rd month free should more than offset it.

I ended up getting a verizon prepaid and porting to it. Then once the port was completed I got on Aio's website and ported to them. All said it cost me $20 and took less than a day. I would have gone to a store but the closest one is 4 hours away so that wasn't an option.

Cheapest way would be port to spot mobile $5 plan then to aio. But you would need a spot sim.

I ported from h2o to aio with no issues.

With Straight Talk and NET10 now supporting 4G LTE, I might reconsider going to AIO if it's such a complicated thing to do..
Has anyone been able to test the LTE on ST or NET10? My european iPhone5 doesn't support US LTE..

AIO could not port my AT&T number

I am getting AIO even thought AIO was not able to port my AT&T number. It really didn't matter that I get a new number since I like to refresh my number every few years to get rid of all the dead connections anyway. but the point is, Not every AT&T can be transferred. I called AIO to report the problem, then I conference call to AT&T, let those two talk but none of them knew what to do.

AIO customer service is very nice in terms of friendly and kind but, they are not able to resolve any technical issues as they are only following the script.

For instance, with my porting problem, AIO customer service could only try it the EXACTLY same way that I tried the first time. type my information AIO website and see if they have a better luck... they have no way to tell you what's wrong nor any authority to fix anything if anything goes wrong, like ordering the wrong thing.

so even if AIO rep does something wrong, they no way to fix it, and you have to deal with it on your end.

Even though they are very nice, it's frustrating to hear "There's nothing we can do " with smiley face in the end. They must be told to put at the end of every sentence by their trainers.

so if you are absolutely sure to go with AIO, then do it. I did. It's the same AT&T network and owned by AT&T. Even AT&T rep told me I should go with AIO for better pricing.

but if anything goes wrong technically like if you can't activate or number can't be ported or any other issues, AIO has NO WAY to fix it for you. I mean, NO WAY.

    hope this helped.

I know this post has been a while back, but what did you use for your H2O account number & pin to transfer to AiO? H2O told me the entire sim card #, not just the last 15 digits, and the last 4 numbers of the sim card #. Is that correct? I ported from H2O to Net10 to try them out. I would like to give AiO a try, but I've read it's impossible to port from Net10 to AiO. So I'm porting from Net10 to H2O then H2O to AiO. I hope it's all worth it, and I hope the porting from Net10 to H2O works.
