    Question Tracfone 840G Web Browser & 3G

A couple of times I have turned on the web browser by mistake and by the time I could shut it off it stole some minutes. I just want to use the tracfone 840G for phone calls and texting. Can I shut off the browser so I can't mistakenly turn it on. Also, I read somewhere the the phone will search for the wifi signal all the time so it will diminish the battery. Can I shut off the 3G as well as the browser. If I can how do I do it. Thanks

You can turn off wi-fi and Bluetooth to save the battery, but you can't turn off cellular data and you can't disable the browser.
Well, not and still be able to call/message (airplane mode turns off everything).

This has been the nature of TracFone since the first data capable phones (MMS/web).

Do you want to turn off just 3G data speed or data all together?

As I said, you can't turn off just the cellular data and still use voice and text.

You then asked for wi-fi and BT instructions.

On what screen are you accidentally activating the browser?
    Some Icons can be removed/hidden.
Or is it switching to cellular data when on WiFi?

I've turned on the browser by mistakenly hit the browser icon because it is next to the settings icon. I do not want to turn on the browser at all. I do not want wifi or Bluetooth. The bluetooth and wifi was already off when I checked but I can still see the 3G symbol at the top of the home screen. I guess the 3G symbal stays there weather it's on or off. I wish I could turn the browser off but ST Dog say you can't.
The touchscreen is very sensitive on this 840. My previous Tracfone was an LG800 and the touch screen was not as bad for me

The 3G is only the indication of the data speed of the signal received by the phone from the service providers tower. If you were out of 3G coverage you would probably see an E (edge speed) and the browser would still connect.
If you are hitting the icon on the menu screen, there is no solution, that icon cannot be moved nor hidden.

If WiFi were turned on, and you were connected to a WiFi source, the browser would automatically open over WiFi rather than the Cellular network. But that is not a realistic solution.

I do not know if someone else may have a workaround solution, but keep checking back, it could take time for that someone to come along and see your thread.

This is how i have my lg840 set up,I use the widget screen as my idle screen with current time zone clock then you have phone, contacts, texting, and icon for all apps at bottom of screen. No need to ever have browser icon where you would hit it, unless you choose to do so.ck out the lg840 Tutorial for instructions.

An idea: Put everything around the browser icon (alarm - camera - settings) onto the shortcuts screen. Then you will not be touching any icons near the browser icon.

Well, can't I just move the browser icon away from the settings and move it to the last page. You know the page that has calculator, tip calculator, stop watch, ect ect?

NO!!! There is no way to move the items around that are found on the three menu screens.
Do you know how to change the shortcuts screen?
