Question A Question to Test Your Memories...

As a former SideKick user, there's something I've been wondering recently that I hope someone here remembers.

At the height of its popularity, what percentage of the smartphone market did Danger's HipTop/SideKick control?

I'm really curious, because Danger was bought by Microsoft, and ultimately shut down by them. But Microsoft's Windows Phone 8 controls only 3% of the smartphone market, which I believe makes their share smaller than BlackBerry's! So, why on EARTH would they get rid of a popular smartphone platform like the HipTop/SideKick? 4 years after the shut down, this still makes no sense to me, because I have to believe that worldwide, the HipTop's share of the market HAD to be larger than 3%.

So, who wants to prove me right... or wrong?

Wow. I guess either no one knows, or no one cares anymore.
