Can you really use PayPal online to buy a phone from Cricket? If someone else orders it and the plan, they are the ones who have to keep the payments going on service right?

Cricket doesn't accept PayPal at the moment. You will Need a credit card. See here - https://www.cricketwireless.com/supp...ys-to-pay.html

Just a FYI, I went to the Corporate Cricket store and they cut mine no problem, no charge. It doesn't hurt to ask.

Why is the iPhone SE $199 on Cricket and $399 on other carriers? Is it being subsidized?

Its been on sale for others -- GoPhone/Metro/Boost/Straight Talk

Apple most likely lowering wholesale cost on the backend

There has to be a subsidy on the vendor's end. Notice that this hasn't been offered on the postpaid side. Which is why the 6 months for unlock (unless on Cricket have unlimited). They don't want to subsidize the cost on postpaid unless they get something out of it, like an additional line.
I gave into temptation, and bought the iPhone X, even though I had a perfectly good, though oversized, 7+.

Wow $159 is a good deal on Boost Mobile. Cricket would be better coverage for me.

Quick question from a Cricket noob. If I want to buy a iPhone 6s on Swappa and bring it to Cricket, do I need to buy only the models listed as Cricket compatible or will the ones listed for AT&T also work. I (think) I know that I need the A1633 model, but would appreciate any pointers to make sure that I get a model that will work without issue on Cricket.

I just tested this in the last couple weeks. Bought a GoPhone SE ($199 new). Did a quick test with my Cricket SIM. Worked as expected (ATT Postpaid/GoPhone phones work on Cricket. Cricket phones don't work on GoPhone or Postpaid unless unlocked).

Also verified that it was locked since, as expected, didn't work with Verizon SIM.

A locked (or unlocked, of course) AT&T phone will work on Cricket.
