    GoPhone throttling changed?

I have recently reaches the throttling point on my cycle. I have a $45 plan and have used all of my data.

My speedtests have changed from .12 parallel to about 500 kbps down and 800 kbps up. Could this be a change in throttling policy? I've run tests on LTE and HSPA+ and it shows the same similar speed on both.

    Anyone noticed anything similar?

You mean that's much faster "low speed" than the usual 128kpbs?

Yes, in fact that's enough for any music streaming, even decent video with buffering.

Too bad the lowest plan's $45 to get that. . .

I'm testing out gophone to see how the throttled speeds are. And I've had around the same throttled speeds myself. Which is good if they upped the limitation. I wonder if this is a fluke in the system or if this is a "new" throttled speed to better differentiate from Cricket.

    d/l = around 0.5
    u/l = around 1.0

Very reasonable throttled speeds! Those are the old postpaid grandfathered UDP throttled speeds we use to get at 5GB. Since they eliminated the hard throttled, wonder if they upped the throttled speed for prepaid?

they also seem to be improving on the other side with lower ping times. seems like changes being tweaked by the at&t mothership to benefit its prepaid children.

Wasn't there a thread a few months back that had rumors of GoPhone increasing the throttle to 512k. Someone had even posted a screenshot of the change, but it never happened.

This is exciting. Big plus when considering GoPhone now.

I'm have postpaid UDP and hit the 5GB hard throttle often before they quit the practice. It truly unlimited now. The speed on postpaid when I use to be throttled wasn't that bad at all. It's very usable and doesn't really feel that slow for browsing and basic stuff.

Yup, that's the one. I don't see any changes on the current site, so this has to be a fluke
