Yeah I'm not sure why but any mobile speed test on any carrier using both speed test servers in Newfoundland (Bell Aliant & Eastlink) always have a high ping. It's been like it for as long as I can remember.

LTE in Clarenville.. great to see. Hopefully soon highway towers upgraded. Any maybe a shared site with Bell at veterans turn off. On another note I think the tower near quidi vidi activated. Now get full signal when I pass there

Nice! Hopefully full service down in the "gut" now too! LTE in Clarenville is great but they really need a second tower there badly. Shoal Harbour is almost a complete deadzone with either no signal or 1 bar of edge if you're lucky but a 2 minute drive up Shoal Harbour Drive and signal goes back to 3-4 bars of LTE by the business park. So close and yet so far lol

Lol. I wonder why they put 3 towers in corner brook. Probably would have been better in stj you boost coverage. I wonder how many subs they have there

My guess is not many yet. Maybe a few university students going to Grenfell campus from the mainland who already had Rogers. I wonder if they have any plans to launch in Grand Falls-Windsor or Gander? Seems like the next logical places to expand to. Even Bay Roberts/Carbonear area would make sense just from their closeness to St. John's.

I travel to the carbonear area a lot. There are certain places you now get a rogers signal. I guess it's from the tower on bell island. Keep in mind though it is very sporadic. Whatever happens it's great to finally see expansion. Wonder why they are doing it though.. gonna be hard to take subs from the other two

I think if they built out relatively good coverage even in just Eastern NL (Avalon/Bonavista/Burin Peninsulas) they could capture a nice bit of market share. More than half of the province's population live here and the majority of tourists that visit in the summer months spend a lot of if not all of their time in the east, which would be a good place to start. Me and most people I know of living here in eastern usually never go further west than Clarenville anyways so coverage past that is a bonus of course but as long as the home territory is covered, I think a lot of people would switch. (especially now that some of Rogers plans are currently cheaper than Bell and Telus).

An expansion that size would cost millions. I don't think rogers would invest that kind of money in NL

what app are you using for the speed test? Decent download, upload isn't the best for LTE though.

That must be the paid version.
    Un-Rogered, and getting better 'value'.
