I'm past the free premium window, got a nag once or twice to upgrade then no more. Today it blocked a spam number so it seems to still be doing something. I'll have to keep monitoring it.

One thing I'd like to know is what is does with the call exactly. My phone doesn't even ring, the screen wakes up and says call blocked but I don't know if the app hangs up the phone or if a spammer would actually go to voicemail if they didn't hang up on their end.

    Anyone know?

I know this is an old thread but was wondering if anyone is using it?
Is it the same - free in the beginning then nags you later to pay for the upgrade?

I don't even think that any of these apps do any good. The scammers/spammers are using active numbers to call people. I've received spam calls from my neighbor's home phone.

They might do a little good with out-of area spam/scam calls, but mostly I agree. Many scam/spam calls are coming from local-to-me #s in the last 6-9 months, so the spammers/scammers have learned a new trick! I don't answer any #s that I don't have in my contacts, so it never affects me. Somehow GV blocks almost all out-of-area scam/spam calls from even ringing on my 2 GV#s, the only 2 phone #s I have, which is great. I do get notification of those missed calls, and upon checking the #s, every one so far has been scam/spam.

They fooled me a few times with that trick. Now, like you, I don't answer numbers that I don't recognize. If they don't leave a voicemail, that number gets added to the growing list of SPAM/Blocked numbers.

The problem is with the crooks who spoof their phone number so never use the same number long enough for it to be identified for blocking. About every 10 days I get a robocall from crooks calling themselves "Card Member Services" with a pitch that they will lower credit card rates. It is a scam that has been going on for years. If anyone knows of a way to detect and block spoofed numbers reliably, I'd like to know.
