3g will be around in abundance at least till 5g deployment begins. 3g provides a fallback for 4g, so it isn't going anywhere for quite a while.

That's good I suspect they have more than enough Spectrum to have 3g around

Is that possible CA? I know it's hard to tell on a iPhone.

He has an iPhone 6+ according to his bio which is Cat 4. If the total amount of BW is greater than 20 MHz then no. 20 MHz 2 is all his phone can handle until he gets a 6S (2xCA) or 7 (3xCA).

GSM900. Not sure how that's possible.

That's most likely a error when you don't have a signal.

Looks like T-Mobile 2g, mine does the same when I try to connect to the extinct 2g network

3G isn't going anywhere in this decade and likely not even til at least mid way through or to the end of next decade. They still have plenty of spectrum to refarm from it before it's stripped down to a single channel. And idk if their hardware can support this like T-Mobile's can but they could possibly narrow UMTS down to a 3.8x3.8 MHz channel. Right now in my market at&t is still running 3 5 MHz (5x5) UMTS channels, I hope they refarm one of the U850 channels this year and deploy B5 LTE, the less dense areas need it badly.

AT&T needs to deploy a band 5 carrier here because 700 is overloaded

Or add more towers to add capacity.
