I got to see the plans/drawings where they are installing antennas on the towns water tower, they are putting in B13 and B5, then there were 2 other antenna types on the plans that I couldnt tell what they were for... I am excited as this will fill a major gap here in my hometown.

And Band 5 in San Francisco at Oyster Point, at the south end of the Candlestick causeway. It's technically Brisbane, but you've got to be super local to appreciate that nuance.

    Verizon band 5 deployment

Band 5 is alive on one of the sectors of the cell site that serves my house. Today I also noticed B5 on a high-level site in southeast Reno. I only got about 25 Mbps on a download speed test, whereas a B2 speed test resulted in a bit over 50 Mbps.

    5 MHz isn't very generous. ☹

interesting. do you know exactly where the tower is located? nevermind it's on the hitachi building, they camouflaged the antennas pretty well.

I mapped the area a couple months ago on CellMapper: https://www.cellmapper.net/map?MCC=3...lse&showBand=0 green blip is the tower that 7711004 is associated with.

Someone else mapped it on 9/4 but only picked up Band 2+4+13 so it must be a really recent tower upgrade.

    @ benwoohoo

nice detective work. I was all up and down the 101 yesterday between Palo Alto and the city. And in the city from China Basin, along Embarcadero up to Fidi and into North Beach and Telegraph Hill. That was the only that I saw and actually the first that I have ever seen.

I spotted some going eastbound (from Sacramento to Salt Lake City) over Donner on Amtrak's California Zephyr on Monday (October 2nd) afternoon, it was while passing through Gold Run. I took a speed test on it, and got 72.22 Mbps down and 4.48 Mbps up.

Did you end up finding it or was that a mod? I oddly couldn't find this thread from the app myself so hopped on the desktop site and was JUST about to link to it...

The entire town of Valparaiso, IN appears to have B5 now. I drove around with a galaxy locked to B5 and picked it up on every site I went by. Verizon seems to have prioritized that area for whatever reason for B5 deployment, possibly due to high market share. Absolutely nothing has been spotted within a 10 mile radius of me.

They seem to be doing it in a location by location basis, a site or two here, a town or two there, but no mass deployment, yet. That Band 5 location I spotted on Monday is VERY rural, heavily forested and mountainous, the low band makes for great coverage in those types of areas. Have you spotted any at all in your area into Chicago? Speaking of that, one of these days I am going to do some riding on the South Shore line!
