    Verizon vs iPhone data counter

Does anyone monitor the difference between their phone and what verizon reports? I reset mine at midnight on the start of my cycle every month and have been for some time now. Originally on AT&T they always aligned pretty well. Sometimes my phone would show more usage then AT&T at the end of a cycle believe it or not. Now on Verizon I'm noticing they're reporting about 300 MB's more then my phone is. The SIM card was new so the data counter started exactly when the line was activated.

Anyone else notice that sort of discrepancy?

Lately my Verizon data has shot up drastically with the same usage pattern so not sure what's going on. The data on the phone has been way less for some reason.

I've seen it take upwards of a few hours to show up online, so if you're using a lot of data near midnight, it may be reflected on your new months bill.

I didn't have a cycle last month since I just signed up a few weeks ago so that issue is moot for me.

My coworker has noticed an increase in usage for the last few months, as well. He said his habits are the same, so he doesn't know what's up right now.

I reset my usage counter this morning and watched it like a hawk all day. I used 231 MB's and Verizon has billed me for 238. I had the phone on airplane mode all night and then reset it when I woke up, so there should've been zero data usage between the time I went back onto Cellular and reset the counter. My usage was at 9.76 this morning and now it's at 9.98. I ran numbers every which way and I came out to 238 each way I ran them. Every little bit adds up and that must be how they've deducted over 300 MB's more then I've actually used so far.

    Something stinks here.

Keep in mind that the phone data counter does not round up to the next megabyte and Verizon does for each and every data session.
If I'm annoyed and you're annoyed, does that make us a paranoid ??

You think that should account for a whole 300+ MB's more shown used then the device says?

All you'd need is 300 data sessions, definitely feasible, although maybe not in a single day for some people.

Oh please, I'm zeroing in on 6 gigs of speed tests this month. I think I did 9 gigs worth last month.

And yet, my usage matches what I am using.

    Verizon vs iPhone data counter

I shut cellular off yesterday evening and checked online this morning and the usage didn't budge. So I can rule out phantom usage.

I'm wondering if maybe they have issues with tracking usage in certain apps and wind up over billing. The other iPhone line seems to be within 100 MB's of the website and I can account for that discrepancy because I reset the data counter on that device exactly one day into the cycle and it had used close to that much before then.
