Tijuana, México later at night so I'm assuming empty network.
Wow! That's the fastest upload I've ever seen over LTE.

Similar performance on Telcel at around same time.
Ok, I can believe AT&T MX doing well in Tijuana, but my experiences with Telcel have been less than stellar for both roaming on T-Mobile and native service lately. Even data speeds late at night can be bad, which ranges from can't use Whatsapp to can't stream video. AT&T and T-Mobile seem to take a huge hit at night as well...

    Lucky break..

I don't believe that parts like Zona Rio, Norte and Centro are that good these days with Telcel.

The only thing Telcel has these days is coverage.
Other than that..the network has been sucking a lot lately. I feel as if network congestion is an all-day affair with some relief..then it just goes downhill...well into the night.

Agreed. Coverage is where Telcel shines. When I was out in Mexico I noticed that my speeds were pretty good through out the day but when people started getting off work or students started getting out of school is when the network would slow to a crawl. To make it worse where I was staying Telcel only had 1 LTE tower for the whole town/city luckily the tower was literally down the street from our house.

They were great when I used them recently in Cabo San Lucas. I was regularly getting 60/20Mbps all over.

What will it take to get those pings down? Even on AT&T's OWN network in Mexico, are they always going to throw us from the U. S. to a proxy here?

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using HoFo mobile app

The pings haven't really shown up during regular use. Every activity on the phone takes the same amount and feels the same as on the native at&t network. The only time the ping shows high is during speed tests.

The way international data roaming architecture works is there's a IP tunnel between your phone and your home carriers APN (in this case AT&T). Sometimes its NOT optimized. They should setup multiple gateways (I'm using airport codes)... Like DFW and LAX for Mexico, MIA for Latin America, ORD, JFK and SEA for Canada, and JFK/IAD for Europe... There's also technology that some overseas carriers use that do local break-out (same continent minimizing latency). A few years ago I believe ALL traffic was routed through Atlanta.

This is very true. Also it's better that they run our traffic through a proxy so we get the English sites instead of the Spanish sites

For anyone who is currently out in Mexico at the moment could you please confirm roaming on Telcel is still available?

It is, but its not the preferred network in Tijuana.
The unusable, unreliable, and way past oversold Movistar network was preferred.
Speedtest? Well, I couldn't even load up the Google Maps from the app...

AT&T MX was M.I.A for my MSV line which defaulted to the hapless Movistar.
(consumer lines struggled to maintain LTE, 3G was hurting at times.)

Telcel LTE was M.I.A. most of the time since my consumer line and roaming line with T-Mobile mainly stayed on 3G.
The never seen before, dual 1900MHz HSPA+ and dual 850 MHz HSPA+ channels sort of made up for the loss of the spotty LTE service. Not sure, if this a temporary configuration or something more.

AT&T MX was still struggling to recover after the festivities, like going through a bad hangover.
Telcel LTE returned like a champ.
Movistar is like the kid who barely catches up, then suddenly falls behind the pack, and goes back to barely catching up, again.

Thanks for confirming and Happy New Year. When I flew into TJ to flight back into the US from my trip last year, I couldn't wait to leave, all networks were congested I was surprised Movistar LTE was even up
