VZ: Limits LTE to 500 MB/day
AT&T: Indications of throttling (what about Cricket?)
T-Mo: Underwhelming rural and other U.S. coverage
    Sprint: Fuhgettaboutit!
Project Fi MVNO: Gets pricy with tether or heavy use

Why can't just one carrier get it right?

I know I already asked this. But can anyone report if this is happening anywhere else. Mexico I can kind of see as they own a Network there. But if this is all over the world then that's BS at the very least they should be upfront with customers about it.

I didn't notice in Spain, France, Monaco or Italy. It just took a few days for LTE to finally connect.

Bell LTE test from Rogers City, MI. I was at Hoeft State Park about 4 miles north of the town. It is a known dead spot for both AT&T and Verizon. Both carriers have cell sites approximately 4-5 miles south. Somehow my iPhone and my wife’s preferred to roam on a Canadian signal from over 40-50 miles away. I saw both Bell LTE, 3G, and Telus LTE on our phones.

I have absolutely 0 doubt in my mind they're throttle for sure. Sucks Telcel is the only carrier where I'm staying so I'll have to deal with these sh*t as speeds. AT&T MX gets full LTE speeds but Telcel is most definitely throttled

AT&T: You pay for roaming in MX and we tell you that we won't limit your use, but we make the speed unbearable so you really can't use it. AT&T: We are [wink wink] for net neutrality, but we try to trick people into petitioning against it.
AT&T: We won't allow you to have advanced calling features unless you use our branded phones or a very limited set of certified phones.
And the list just goes on.

Mind you, other carriers have their own issues.

Yup that 500MB/day 2G speeds after Verizon is offering doesn't sound bad after all, 2G speeds is pretty much what I'm getting with AT&T anyway. These little games AT&T is playing isn't something I'm willing to put up with. Like Airbnb said it's obvious they're throttling, the speed jumps up then slowly comes back down to .13. I wouldn't mind being throttled if it was 8 mbps or even 3 mbps, something usable, but 2G speeds come on now.

Currently at Wellesley Island State Park in Northern NY.
AT&T service dies once you enter the park. Verizon has a tower on the island with LTE coverage.

I got AT&T to enable manual selection on my phone before this trip and have been able to measure the top 3 Canadian Carries.

Rogers 3G/4G network is not useable. LTE is a lackluster.
Bell 3G/4G works great along with LTE. Although I found their 3G network to be faster.
Telus has been the best experience in my opinion with both 3G/4G speeds being great along with LTE.

T-Mobile and Verizon are your carriers for Mexico roaming now, sadly, since AT&T owns a network here I'm pretty sure what they're doing is what they do in the states, if they don't have a butt buddy roaming agreement with the carrier then you're throttled and I don't think Telcel is even interested in giving AT&T a good roaming deal unless they pay a premium which AT&T isn't going to do. Sucks they treat they're postpaid US customers like this even though we have nothing to do with the MX network

VZ and ATT seem to compete fiercely and continuously for the crown of "evil empire". As of late, ATT is edging out VZ for this infamy. Postpaid is the premium customer base. By their treatment and terms, you would never know it. As T-Mo rolls out its 600Mhz band, it will be interesting to see how VZ and ATT will attempt to retain customers.

I agree. I much rather have 500MB a day with 2G speeds after, than be throttled at 2G speeds 24/7 though. Also T-Mobile is still lacking in coverage so it's going to be a while before I go back to them.

Is there anyway you can do some more AT&T MX speed tests?
