Can I get some phone recommendations? :-)

I am thinking of switching my wife and I over to google fi.

I have the 5x, so no problem for me.

However, my wife is currently using a 2013? Moto G from Republic Wireless.

She LOVES the moto G. She doesn't like big giant phones very much. Otherwise, I would thinking about getting a 5x for her.

What phones are similar to a Moto G and would work well on Google Fi? My budget is $50-$150 USD.

Will the Moto G from Republic Wireless work on Google Fi? I am going to be looking into that. I had heard that phones ordered from Republic Wirelss will not work with any other carrier. However, fi and republic use really similar technology so maybe there's a way?

    Peace phone fanatics :-D!

The only phones that work on Fi are Google phones. The 5X is probably as close as it gets to a Moto G. Or the new smaller Pixel.

I don't know of any phones in your price range that will work on Fi. The 5x is quite a bit bigger than the Moto G.

Ah bummer. I just found this on the FAQ:

"Which devices can I use on Project Fi? The Pixel, Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X."

That really surprises me. I was hoping that I would at least be able to use the Nexus 5 on project fi. It's going for about $100 and it's my all-time favorite cell phone. So I guess the smallest phone would be the Pixel, which comes in at around 5". That's still pretty large. I think the Nexus 5 was just a tad under 5".

Nexus 5 predates the Fi service.

Nexus 5 was fantastic but it's day is over. The pixel is truly excellent but doesn't meet your stated budget. You should grab a 5x while you can. I think they are just going to run stock out and then will be unavailable.

Check Swappa, Craigslist, eBay for 5x or 6 or 6P phones. I had a 5x but just picked up a 6P for $275 and it is a great phone. Check to see if you can still get a 5x from Project Fi for the promo price of $199.
