    Post your Public Mobile speedtests!

Well since other forums have speed tests for the various cell providers, why shouldn't Public Mobile have one. Here are a bunch of mine by date

Public Mobile, but some include transit into St. Catharines where the signal is worse.

Size: 1.04 MBI'm pleased with Public Mobile, but displeased with the speeds I'm getting. (The first and last one were on PM, the ones in-between were testing my WiFi). I'm lucky to get 15 Mbps down. On Rogers I get 50+ Mbps. Perhaps Bellus is oversubscribed here. Still, that's good enough for me.

Have you tried speed tests without your phone connected to a second provider?

Does the slower speed matter? Does it affect typical usage on your phone? You can always pay more and go for the faster speeds.

Yes. Despite what my .sig suggests, I'm actually using the two SIMs in different devices at the moment, and the results are no better. I know several people who switched from Rogers/Fido to take advantage of last year's Public Mobile promo, and they're all getting substantially slower speeds. Like I say, maybe Bellus is oversubscribed where we are. *shrug*

Awesome posts! While I don't understand most of the technical info i get the idea, and be it that we PM customers do get our speeds throttled, I don't think it's bothersome for the price were paying especially since you mentioned the speeds were getting are still more then enough for what we need on smartphones these days. Now the question is does PM throttle it's users to keep costs down? Are the two things even related or does PM do it "just cause they can"?

I'm not obsessed with speed tests but I've done a few.

There are three towers about a block from me - Wind, Rogers and Telus. All full bars with H+ and less with LTE.

All get 8-10mbps on H+ which is what the phones are set to because they spend most time on standby.

With my Galaxy S3 LTE on Bell 25-30mbps was normal with 40 the highest. Z30 was same.

Z30 on Public hit 30 when I tested it - so I considered it same as Bell/Telus.

My little Blackberry Q5 in Fido hit 80mbps the only time I tested it.

I still remember my home internet on ADSL was 1.2mbps. once upon a time.

In case anyone is still wondering about PM speeds on LTE, I managed this a couple nights ago... Fastest I've ever seen LTE on any network I have used.
