FreedomPop AT&T LTE SIM $5 free ship

I'm opening a new thread since it's faster for folks to jump to the link. Will update if it gets cheaper, which it will.

    http://freedompop.com/offer/sim-nationwide-lte-c1

SlickDeals sez it was $2 for a few hours (link ended in 'b2' rather than 'c1'). No worries. It'll drop soon enough.

why should we be all hot and bothered about access to LTE on a 200MB data plan? I prefer being confined to HSPA on these tiers...

    600 MB for $5 is a warmer deal than 600 MB for $20. In a few weeks/months, it'll be for $1.

Freedom Friends for all the extra data. I will be getting one or two more of these when I can get them for $1-2. These SIMs are much better than the global SIM for domestic data use.

I typically use less than 200MB of data per month (I'm usually on WiFi)... If 200MB isn't enough, FreedomPop will give you both 50MB more data for the first 10 "friends" (other FP users) you connect with. Since this is a free monthly plan, there's nothing stopping you from buying multiple sims, and swapping them during the month...

Faster web browsing would be nice in any case. VoIP over LTE should be better (lower latency) than HSPA. And AT&T native will have far less latency in general than the "global" sim, so VoIP might actually become decent... I don't personally care, though, as FP global is only a backup option for me.

It says unlocked, but I wonder if an AT&T phone or tablet really needs to be unlocked?

How much did you pay for the FreedomPop AT&T LTE SIM(s) that you already have?

I've tried adding random friends from the internet and one have accepted. Is there a forum on here to find people looking to add friends?

Does this have 3G fall back or strictly 4G LTE? In other words looking for someone who has tried 3G with this sim.

It should work like any other LTE sim. When the phone is not LTE or LTE network is not available it will fall back to 3g.

I will find out as I just ordered a sim for an Iphone 4s, non LTE phone.

I paid $5 for the sim from this link. It looks like a month of service is included $(20 plan), but I'm not sure. Can I get free service after the trial? It say's it's a beta. I'm not sure.

I have not, but LTE speed tests have all been excellent and latency is in the mid to low 100ms. So it should be much better than the global SIM.
