“The Internet wasn’t meant to be metered in bits and bytes, so it’s insane that wireless companies are still making you buy it this way. The rate plan is dead — it’s a fossil from a time when wireless was metered by every call or text.” John Legere 1/5/2017

This will probably be sent to customers in their wireline footprint where they are not planning on upgrading their wireline infrastructure. A lot of addresses on AT&T qualify for landline home phone + wireless internet in rural areas. $60 for 250GB is better than the $80 a month a lot of their forgotten DSL customers pay and only get 150GB on.

To be honest I don't care for this, if many people sign up for it, it'll just congest the network for mobile users, which is what the network is for, not for everyone in the neighborhood to stream Netflix all day and night in their RV or home... This is where AT&T over extends themselves. Hopefully many don't see those plans. It is a limited deal it looks like, and you have to get it in certain areas (oh crap, Missouri is one of them) and have to talk to the right person. Right now it's 50gb for $100 online, which will keep people off of it and using the wired networks meant for home Internet. And will mean only the rare person would be using this, keeping the load down. Speeds should at least be throttled on these accounts to around 10 mbps

Very cool, but at the same point, wonder if this will cause congestion issues?

It depends on where they offer it. If it's only available in their wired footprint where UVERSE DSL/Fiber is not available, they can go ahead and plan for a high load on the cell sites serving that group of users being targeted, therefore minimizing congestion.

Sweet.... I have the device on a 50gb plan for 100 dollars right now. Pulling in 15mbs speed where my cell phone can not pickup a signal. These devices can pickup a signal that a cell phone can not.

I live in a suburban area of SoCal but I get between 90-120 Mbps DL speeds with AT&T depending on the time of day inside my condo.

I can see where based on current infrastructure how congestion could happen but with GB speeds on the way.........................

Makes me want to open up a mailbox in the served area and get this plan! Haha.

Plans like this are going to put a big dent in dsl and satelite service.

I have only had the device for a month but zero issues pulling a 6 to 15 mbps speed which works way better than my other options. As I stated before my att cell phones have zero signal even outside and this device picks up 2 bars and never drops out

Could you PLEASE check what's the voltage input for this box? I'd like to ALSO be able to power it from my car (preferably without an inverter).
