Popular Moto G5 does support T-Mobile's VoLTE and WiFi Calling

Just in case someone you know is looking for an > $300 decent Android device and wanted to make sure they'll get the full T-Mobile LTE network experience: http://www.tmonews.com/2017/04/unloc...wi-fi-calling/
“The Internet wasn’t meant to be metered in bits and bytes, so it’s insane that wireless companies are still making you buy it this way. The rate plan is dead — it’s a fossil from a time when wireless was metered by every call or text.” John Legere 1/5/2017

Even supports band 66. Picked up the 64/4 version to play around with. It's actually a great device for the price point.

This would be good to know but I'm set until the band-71 phones arrive.

I think I'm going to get one to add to my Android collection. Just to have one.

Yeah the G5 Plus does have VoLTE and WiFi calling on TMO. Only VoLTE on Verizon and of course neither on AT&T or Sprint.

I've been testing it and it has very good RF too, almost Galaxy good.

Officially OK, but you can buy a G5 on Amazon.

Yes you can, but, it doesn't support bands 2,4, or 12 so why would you? It's not designed to work in the u.s. the only LTE bands it supports are 1,3,5,7,8,19,20,28,and 38. But, to answer the question though no, volte will not work with the g5, neither will LTE for that matter.

Not to resurrect an old thread but my G5 Plus drops to HSPA when making calls in a know VOLTE area.

    I wonder what's going on?

Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using HoFo mobile app

That also happens sometimes with my Nexus 6. Sometimes it stays on LTE, sometimes it doesn't. I don't really care; in fact, when it stays on LTE for calls, 50% of the time, calls drop if longer than a few minutes so I'd rather it switch to HSPA or 2G where calls are more reliable.

On Moto's (Nexus 6, Moto X, Moto G) you can 'force' your phone to stay on LTE / WCDMA or GSM.
I found in some places (Kauai) that it was better to force my phone to LTE than leave it on auto - as it would attempt to roam.
    AT&T... your world, throttled.

It's a great device, especially at $180 for the 32Gb/2Gb version. You can even add a microSD card for more storage. The only thing it lacks is NFC.

I can attest to how well this phone works on the current "State of the Art" T-Mobile network (just short of working with the new 600 mhz band). I'm using my watch for payments now, so am not missing the NFC on the thing.

Worst feature? The camera, especially in low light, is not flagship level. But it's in good company: this year, not even Motorola's actual flagship phone is checking in with a flagship-level camera.
